❛ As tensions grew between Ravka and Fjerda, the soldiers felt a change in the very air they breathed. The unrest was a palpable presence, a quiet whisper of revolution whispered among the ranks. Soon, time came to choose which soldiers would spy on the Fjerdan ranks, a group of soldiers to gather intelligence to give Ravka an edge over the assembling ranks.
The Triumvirate acknowledges that you don’t need to be big or bold to be a hero — bravery is found in the minor characters as well as the leads, the smaller characters who are crucial to the destinies of the more prevalent ones.❜

Medieval AU: Evangeline Samos as Anne Neville in the Wars of the Roses
I don’t want this anymore. Let me go home. Each word is a betrayal to my house, my family, my blood. My teeth grate against one another, bone on bone. A locked cage for my heart.
Cal has no answer. Say no. Say no. Say no.
But already I see the tug. The lure. Power seduces us all, and it makes us blind. Cal is not immune to it. If anything, he is particularly vulnerable. All his life he watched a throne, preparing for a day it would be his. I know firsthand that’s not a habit a person can easily break. And I know firsthand that few things taste sweeter than a crown. I think of Elane again. Does he think of Mare?
“Long live Tiberias the Seventh,” Anabel says.
The chamber echoes the sentiment. I only mouth the words. I feel poisoned.

The sun almost pierced her gaze as she tested her barriers on the dreaded sand. The heat against her skin welcomed her. It was almost like home here without the lack of civilization. She traced her fingers over her eyes, shielding them from the streams of sunlight that seemed to be attacking everyone. She glanced over at the raven-haired boy. The awkward cast he was put in worried her a bit. She wasn't sure what they could do about his arm, but it didn't seem to be too much of a disadvantage. Nonetheless, she presented him with an endearing smile.
"So, you ready to head off?" She turned around, clopping her boots around in the sand.
Soon enough the cracks in the ground would mimic the ones in their skin. Her eyes lowered towards the small backpack she had brought with them. It would abide some sort of sustainable life for at least a day. They had plenty of water at the moment. Their only goal so far was to reach a town. There, they could restock and take some rest. The sooner they were out of Mexico, the better.
She stared out at the horizon for a moment, clicking her heel against the sand. She pulled out her phone, doubting there was any service nearby, she clicked on a map app. (So professional, right?) Well, that's why they were spies in training. She bit her lip softly, finding out a rough idea of where their location was. They were a few miles outside of Chihuahua.
This is a relisten. I began these with Mission 14, therefore, my original thoughts on this mission were not recorded.]
Okay, because I'm way too lazy to type up more than two of these things in a day, I figure what I'll do is post two until I catch up with myself. So, next up on the list I've been procrastinating on is...oh. Right. This one.
Mission 2 is probably one of my least favorite missions, and I only say "probably" because I can't remember much of exactly what happens in most of the missions.
I feel like it's low on my list because it's a lot of being shown around specific things I can't actually see. It's the audio version of telling and not showing, basically. Informed ability of a lot of things. And that's not the fault of anyone, really. The game is meant to simulate a person actually guiding you around, right with you, telling because they don't have to "show" you; it's right in front of you! But considering that's not the reality, I have mixed emotions about the execution.
Furthermore - again, this distaste will be colored by my personal experiences and such, so this reason may not hold true for a lot of runners - I'm a newer runner. Not never-gone-on-a-run-before new, but definitely run-for-a-few-weeks-stop-for-a-few-weeks-repeat-ad-infinitum new, just coming off a failed attempt to keep a running schedule going. My plan was to run as much of the music as I could (walking where needed) and walk the transmission segments. Based on Mission 1, they were short enough that I wouldn't be walking the entire thing and long enough that I could take a breather for a minute or two. Not the case with Lay of the Land, which had several much short segments.
In fact, these short segments worked against the game for me in several ways. These relistens are done partially while walking short distances and majorly while sitting down, pen in hand, listening specifically to analyze. And, honestly? I still couldn't keep my attention on much of what was happening. I zoned out during the music breaks (I didn't want to let my mind wander too far by having no music at all, but the music wasn't why I was listening, so it wasn't very important to pay attention) and the short segments transitioned into more music before I really snapped out of it. I got the gist of the exposition dropped here, but I was detached from it. I wasn't part of it like before. Even sitting down for Mission 1, I remembered how caught up in it I had been, still felt deeply for Sam.
This is all to say it was mostly not the best for running incentive. It did a fair job setting up the backstory and the totally sketch military shenanigans going on. Dramatic irony is always a load of fun, so nice drop with the Scoobs. Skoobs? idk I think teenagers, marijuana, running, and that word and I think Scooby Doo/the Scoobies. Thus, Scoobs for me. Anyway, that settlement and the supply chopper that lacked supplies JUST LIKE OURS and the fact that it went up in flames shortly after. I totally didn't forget about that whole scenario except for how I totally did.
I think that's all I really have to say about this mission. I listened to it like five times but it just doesn't keep my attention enough to go too in-depth about the content. Sorry!
But, because it's just not complete without a Sam drop, I did like the beginning bit, where Sam introduces Evan to us as the "head of runners." Evan reminds him that it's not an official title and Sam says "Oh, 'unofficially.'"
I'm trying to keep from going forward in time as much as possible, but I just have to mention how much I really love how Sam never (or rarely, if ever. Again, poor memory) says anyone's title or job in the Township is unofficial without being prompted into doing so. He just genuinely thinks that everyone is awesome and everything they do is awesome and wants them to feel awesome. If someone did something great enough to earn an unofficial title, then, as far as Sam is concerned, it's not unofficial at all, and he's going to treat it that way. Fucking love you, Sam Yao.
Alright, I need to go buy food then make food then eat food and then I will sit down and type up Mission 3. WHICH I HAVE WORDS ABOUT. See you later tonight!
