This is my first fanfic or songfic I'm actually sharing with anyone. Idk if I'm proud of it or not. But writing this surely helped me with some of my stuff. Please comment what you think.
Set after Hinny's break up and before Harry's birthday.
This night is cold in the kingdom
Ginny wasn't able to sleep, Harry and her had broken up at Dumbledore's funeral. She had said that she expected that and knew how important it was for Harry to end Voldemort, but that doesn't mean it didn't hurt her. It was breaking her every second.
Everytime she was thinking about the future, it scared her. What if she didn't survive the war? She would die without even telling Harry that she loves him, maybe the breakup wasn't a good idea. What if Harry didn't..... Nah, she wouldn't even think of that. That mere thought was almost enough for her to just go, kidnap Harry and hide him somewhere. A terrible idea, but it was something at least.
From the kitchen to the bathroom sink and
Now Harry was sleeping in Percy's room, which was just next to her bedroom. It was taking all her strength not to go and tell Harry how all this was making her lose control, how Riddle haunted her even now, how everytime she looked at him she wanted to scream, and tell him that she could protect herself.
Don't cut me down, throw me out, leave me here to waste
She wants to go with Harry, to wherever he was going, to help him in whatever he was planning to do. But he had already decided that she had nothing to do with this, she can't help him, and just like that she is left with the unknowing.
I once was a man woman with dignity and grace
She can't help but think of how she had once called him out because he thought that no one could understand what it's like to have an evil wizard messing with your head. He had forgotten that she was once possessed but she can't really hold that against him, with all the adventures he does every year. This time, she had just accepted the break up, without fighting. Was this maturity or stupidity?
Now I'm slippin' through the cracks of your cold embrace
All her nights were now either haunted by Riddle's taunts.
'Ginevra, I had told you, Harry will never love a girl like you'
'He just wanted a reason to get away from you without hurting your family'
Or by the flashbacks of the time Harry and her had spent together. All those kisses, hugs, late night talks and even those silent moments they had spent just sitting near the lake or in the common room, had became a reminder to their breakup and war.
Could you find a way to let me down slowly?
This would have been so much easier if she had not seen the love and care in Harry’s eyes every time she looked at him. If she had not seen that Harry was in pain, too...
A little sympathy, I hope you can show me
Maybe he knew this, maybe that's the reason, he had started avoiding her. Ginny wasn't sure anymore if that was helping her or making her more miserable.
If you wanna go then I'll be so lonely
What was she gonna do in Hogwarts? Neither Harry nor Ron was going there, heck, even Hermione wasn't. Without Dumbledore as the headmaster, Hogwarts would never be the same, it wasn't the safest place anymore. This year was now going to be the accurate definition of being lonely, surrounded by a crowd and still alone.
If you're leavin', baby, let me down slowly
Let me down, down, let me down, down, let me down
Ginny had looked in those eyes, which were filled with tears and had said,
'I wish you could say that you don't feel for me anymore'
Harry had slowly leaned in, resting his forehead on hers, nose almost touching, and had wishpered,
And then he had left her standing alone in that corridor. Ginny had sobbed for almost an hour, before putting a mask of the strong girl she wanted everyone to see her as.
I hold on to little pieces of what we were
I know we're long gone, but take it easy
Even after weeks, Ginny just can't forget that she wasn't with Harry, she could not kiss him or touch him or just sit with him without worrying about anything. She keeps looking at the photo Colin had clicked of their first kiss. At least, she has a memory, even if they hurt like hell.
Cold skin, drag my feet on the tile
As I'm walking down the corridor
Everyday, she was trying to be normal, trying not to think if Harry was thinking about her, if he was okay, if he was having nightmares, if he was wishing her to be there with him, if he was......
And I know we haven't talked in a while
So I'm looking for an open door
The day Harry came to Burrow, she had thought that maybe he would change his mind, maybe he would say that he wanted her to go with him, maybe he would regret his decision, maybe....... Ginny had thought of so many "maybe" that she has even lost count of it.
And I can't stop myself from fallin' (down) down
Ginny never really gave up on him, she did that thing right. Seeeing that hope become a reality was a pleasure but now seeing that reality getting crushed was like a dream turning into a nightmare every second, every moment.
Could you find a way to let me down slowly?
A little sympathy, I hope you can show me
If you wanna go then I'll be so lonely
If you're leavin', baby, let me down slowly
Let me down, down, let me down, down, let me down
Let me down, down, let me down, down, let me down
If you wanna go then I'll be so lonely

Maybe Harry's birthday would give her a new memory with the gift she was planning for him, something to keep her sane, something to keep on going, something to fight for.
