#missing daniel hours

Max wins.

Max wins—and for the first time since before he joined the grid—there‘s no congratulations from Daniel.

What makes it worse, is that Max doesn’t even realise until nearly a week after claiming that top step.

Something ugly starts to form in his gut, a bitter taste fills his mouth as he scrambles for his phone—only to discover that the last message exchange he’d had with Daniel had been nearly a month prior. 

He opens the Find My app on his phone and taps People instinctively. 

Max has developed a desperate habit of constantly checking his phone, checking on Daniel’s location. He watches as Daniel moves across the globe, sending him messages and memes, but never what he is doing or where he is.

Max remembers the weekend of the Las Vegas Grand Prix—of winning the Championship and knowing that Daniel was only a short flight away. He’d congratulated Max, but nothing else and Max didn’t want to reveal his pathetic habit of always knowing where Daniel was.

Max selects Daniel’s name and the screen zooms to the blue dot and his heart drops.
