Concept Art for Misplaced (2018)
In an earlier version of my film’s conception, I was juggling ideas for Holly’s sidekick character. One was a doll that transformed into an androgynous bishoujo prince that had strong Utena vibes, another was a derpy dog (since dogs are a menace to socks everywhere). Ultimately (with the feedback I received from my classmates and teacher), I went with the Teddy Bear that transforms into a Grizzly Bear. In the beginning I thought that I would be creating my film in 2D animation, so when I had decided to do it in stop-motion, I had to draw new concepts with puppet construction in mind. Obviously, some minor changes would occur during the construction phase. The first set I had in mind was much more elaborate, but since you don’t see most of it within the film, not everything I had conceived ended up being constructed. The second set was made on the fly, since it’s literally a pile of junk (but I did end up putting together a background of junk on photoshop, not pictured here).
