Thinking this morning about how hard that first year in Blackwatch probably was for Gabe. Like yeah when he was leading Overwatch there were a lot of tough calls but nothing like this. Torturing people, silencing others, some who are innocent who happened to be in the wrong place but they have to because Blackwatch isn’t supposed to exist. And he forces himself to do it because he’s supposed to be a leader. This is all supposed to be for the good of everyone, even if he has trouble believing that sometimes. He makes himself believe it because otherwise what does all the blood on his hands mean.
But during that first year, first few years even, there are just some jobs where when it’s all done he shuts himself in his room as soon as he can, he lets himself cry, because it’s the only chance he’ll have to do so. And?? Shit he’s in Blackwatch all by himself. Jack and everyone are still with Overwatch, and even though he visits them he probably sugar coats half the shit going on just to keep them from worrying. He used to be their leader he should be able to handle this.
It doesn’t get any better until Jesse shows up, and somehow saving this kid’s life makes the rest feel like it really is worth it.
