Over the weekend, I learned two things: 1) Pottery Barn has an AWESOME collection of Star Wars bedding and room decor, and 2) Pottery Barn seems intent on furthering gender stereotypes. Le sigh.Â
Not only does Pottery Barn think their Star Wars bedroom is for boys only, but all their kids rooms are broken up into girl and boy categories with zero overlap between the two. So even if a girl can fly the Millennium Falcon, she can't sleep in a room decorated like one. It seems “Where’s Rey?” is not just a Disney problem.Â
Thanks to Holly (aka @absolutspacegrl) for tweeting about this. As she says: GIRLS LIKE SPACE TOO. And what better evidence to support this than the photo she shared of all the female flight controllers for the space shuttle mission STS-120.Â
Can we all agree to use the force to change this archaic way of thinking?Â
