Probably Catullus. His poetry feels very intimate & like it's really about his life, unlike the more stylised works of the later elegiac poets, and it makes me curious about him as an individual. Alternatively, either of the Julias for ALL the gossip

Turnus (hence the name in the ask) but also Aeneas. Death for the sake of Rome just really hits me.

at first i was going to recommend mrs dalloway to you bc it’s my favourite woolf so far but i know how much you love the sea so i decided on ‘the waves’ instead even though i haven’t finished it yet! it’s just so so incredibly beautifully written sometimes it makes me emotional. im reading it really slowly bc i want to appreciate every single sentence. i hope you haven’t read it yet but i would highly recommend it if you haven’t 🌊
