Rapid knocks on her door were what pulled Kira out of her thoughts.
"Hm?" She thinks to herself silently as she walks to the door, "who could it be at this hour of the night?" And sure enough as soon as the wooden piece was out of the way she was greeted with Mira's playful grin.
"Do you trust me?" She chimes in immediately, not giving Kira any time for formal greetings.
Kira chuckles in amusement, slightly taken aback. Where was this coming from? "P- pardon?"
"I asked," Mira straightens up, "Do you trust me enough to not kidnap you or kill you in the middle of the night?"
And for a moment Kira's face was the definition of a question mark, a slight frown graced on her soft features before she chuckles a little nervously. "Of- of course! Of course, your highness!" And that was all Mira needed to hear as she takes her hands in a beat, pulling her out of her chamber.
"Oh come on! I told you to drop all that formality!!" She says as she tugs at her hand, pulling her along while Kira panics slightly, struggling to close the door behind her. But she manages to do that anyways.
"I'm sorry, your-"
"Mira."
"Y- Yeah. I'm sorry...Mira."
The sound of her name leaving Kira's lips makes her heart do a weird acrobatic in her chest as she smiles, glancing at her once.
"Where are we going?" Kira asks, eyeing all the gaurds on her way. What would the king say if he knew about their sneak out?
"That's the surprise!" She grins.
"Oh..." Kira eyes her curiously, letting her pull her along. The chime of her anklet and bracelet bouncing off the otherwise silent walls as the soft golden glow of fire and lights hits her face, adding to her beauty even more somehow. She didn't know it was possible for someone to be this beautiful....yet somehow here she is, pulling her to god knows where as she looks ever so vibrant and..... beautiful.
"So beautiful...." Mira thinks silently as she glanced back at Kira once, pulling her along the huge corridors of the palace, walls arching gracefully above them. The glow from the chandeliers bouncing off the beautifully carved wall and reflecting off of her features...jaws....cheekbones....the sight was enough to make her heart skip a few beats. "So SO beautiful and SO gorgeous." She thinks silently, grinning as she looks away.
"Princess Mira, I'm afraid we can't let you go out." They were met with spear blocking their way as they approach the door to the garden, making Mira frown.
"Huh? But why?" She whines softly, a pout playing at her lips, "it's just the greenhouse!!"
"Princess, it's for your own safe-"
"Oh!! I'll be fiiiine." She waves her hand dismissively, but the gaurds seem to be persistent so she comes up with a better argument, "Oh come on! Or have you forgotten the last time you let me out?" She wiggles her eyebrows and smirks, almost sadistically. "Oh! I wonder what would happen if I were to tell my father~~" she says, putting up an act.
"How dramatic." Kira thinks silently as she tries her best to hold her laughter. It was amusing, for a princess to behave like that. As if everyone was her friend. An equal. Even despite the threat there was still a sense of light-heartedness in her tone, as if she didn't mean any harm to THEM just because SHE wanted to have fun.
The gaurds share glances with each other. Oh. It's working! So Mira decides to make it more tempting, "Hmmm...." She puts her chin on her hand, "I wonder~~" she smirks again, "I also wonder what were to happen if I put in a good word about you both to my father." Mira continues in her, feigning innocence.
The gaurds share glances again, "We'll accompany you then, princess."
A grin slowly takes over Mira's expression, "Works for me!" She chirps happily.
The gaurds retract the spear hesitantly, slowly. "Let's go!" She takes Kira's hand, jogging towards garden and the greenhouse.
"Careful! You might slip and fall!" Kira's voice was filled with concerns as she walks down the stairs with her.
"You can take care of me then!" She says those few simple words which were enough to make Kira's flutter ever so easily. "Maybe I SHOULD fall so you are forced to spend more time with me. You know, entertain and enlighten me with those poems of yours someday too!" She glances back at her playfully. Kira looks away with a slight blush, thankful it was dark so her tinted cheeks weren't too visible.
"With pleasure, your- MIRA. With pleasure, Mira." And corrects herself, earning another grin from Mira.
And soon enough they were surrounded with the greenery, "Welcome to my mini heaven." Says Mira as she sets down her lantern. It was small yet a cozy place. It felt warm.
"Did...." Kira takes in the surroundings, stunned. It really was like a heaven hidden away from the castle walls. One of the few places that felt like home. "Did you grow all these?" She looks at Mira, whose eyes were as good as shining as she looks at her in anticipation.
Mira nods with a grin. "Wow." She whispers in fascination, running her fingers through the nearest flowers.
"Oh it gets better!!" And that pulls Kira's attention, she turns to Mira and raises an eyebrow. Mira simply grins, her hands moving to the knob on the lantern, "Ready?" Kira nods and Mira turns the knob, extinguishing the only source of light. Moonlight being the only thing that shone through the glass roof.
Mira smiles softly at her confused look as she moves closer to Kira. "Should be here any minute." She says softly, fingers interlacing with Kira's. It takes Kira aback initially, her eyes wide she glances down at their intertwined hands as her heart almost jumps out of her chest. "Soft..." Thinks Kira silently, "Her hand is so soft." And a warmth spreads through her chest as she looks up at the princess.
And soon enough there was flicker of something golden which gets Kira's attention. Kira looks away and blinks at the darkness. What was that?
Twinkle. Twinkle. Twinkle.
One after another, more and more.
Mira's smile widens as Kira gasps softly. Fireflies. Within a few minutes there were hundreds of them, twinkling and lighting up the otherwise dark greenhouse as if they were fireworks. Kira looks around in fascination, her heart swelling in her chest.
Fuck. This was one of THE most beautiful things she had ever seen. Mira leaves her hand with a huge smile, letting her wander. "Like it?" She asks softly.
"Love it." Kira replies, voice filled with fascination. She felt like she was in a fairytale. Mira's little secret world, hidden away, which only a few people knew about.
Mira, on the other hand, plucks a red gardenia - secret love, and tucks it Kira's hair when she wasn't looking. Eyes taking in her fascinated features, trying to commit it to her memory. "Pretty..." Mira smiles, but it falters when Kira turns to her with a surprised look. Shit.
Get it together, Mira. Did you just say that out aloud? She curses internally, managing to keep her calm facade on the outside. "The fireflies, I mean." She raises her hand, a firefly immediately comes to rest on her slender fingers, while another one sits on the red gardenia in Kira's hair.
Mira chuckle, slightly flustered. She thought it was meant to be for her for a second. How stupid. "Yeah. Very pretty." She manages to reply.
And Kira looks away with a slight smile - an attempt to hide the longing in her features.
"One day I WILL tell you how pretty I think you are." They both promise to themselves silently.
