The Lion’s Song Patch

First off, we are releasing a patch for The Lion’s Song that fixes an issue with unlocking achievements. This patch is available for Windows, Linux, and Nintendo Switch. UPDATED 2020-01-30: General (Windows, Linux & Switch): -    Fixed an issue that prevented players from getting an achievement when using the re-decide feature. All achievements can now be unlocked.

Mipumi’s 10 Year Anniversary

2019 was a special year for us: we celebrated our 10 year anniversary! It was an amazing party on a rooftop with a beautiful view of Vienna.

The Lion’s Song available on Nintendo Switch™!

Pretty much a year after we released the full season of The Lion’s Song on Steam, Mac, iOS & Android, we brought our beloved and award-winning narrative pixelart gem to Nintendo Switch™!

From the entire team at Mi'pu'mi a stellar thanks to all of you who accompanied us on our journey to various platforms. A very interesting ride indeed that finally brings us on consoles!

The complete edition, featuring the game's four episodes, can be downloaded via the Nintendo Switch™ eShop.

“Our aim was to let players dive into the rich world of The Lion’s Song to experience four fascinating stories with very different endings,” said Mipumi CEO Gregor Eigner. “We are happy to be releasing the game on Nintendo Switch™ so that a whole new audience can discover this unique adventure and its protagonists, in a complete, console exclusive edition.”

The Lion’s Song Original Soundtrack out now!

Since we released the first episode of The Lion's Song, we were overwhelmed by your positive feedback about the music and score of our little game. Especially about Wilma's Violine concert in the first episode, Silence. Hence we are very proud and honored to present to you the Original Soundtrack of The Lion's Song.

With the help of Dynamedion who is responsible for the wonderful score, we are happy to release a representative cross section of the original music. We hope it brings back some fond memories of your experience with Wilma, Franz, Emma and Bert.

Maybe you find yourself in a small mountain hut one day and are then able to enjoy the music Wilma composed in a similar surrounding. To celebrate the release we also offer a new Soundtrack Edition Bundle at a reduced price on Steam.

Have you ever experienced a situation where one small detail seems to leave a large impact on a completely different part of your life? Or talked to somebody who knows your friends through social circles you never entered? There is a saying here in Vienna which roughly translates as "Vienna is a small village", meaning that everybody seems to know one another.

In The Lion's Song, we tried to depict these moments in life where fate and chance intertwine, and people connect without being aware of it.

Now that the full season was released last week, you are able to explore all connections across all episodes and characters, we hinted to before thoroughly in our communication since Episode 1 - Silence.

We will give some examples of such connections as they appear early in the game. If you want to discover them on your own, skip ahead to the Connection Gallery!

In Episode 1: Silence, how Wilma decides to overcome her fear of the thunderstorm will change who receives her portrait in Episode 2:

Phone up Leos for support to strengthen their friendship. This leads to Leos receiving the painting.

If Wilma blocks out the voices of fear by herself, Klimt will be the keeper of Franz' first portrait.

Another outcome visible throughout the episodes is Wilma's relationship to her mentor Arthur. If she wants to be with him and if her composition is good they will appear together later in the salon:

We connected a lot of these story elements between the four episodes, and not all connections make scientific sense in the context of time and space.

Some of them can't be missed when playing through the game, while others are only found by keeping a sharp lookout.

The Gallery

In the final episode, we added a bonus feature: The Connection Gallery, where those moments are stored for you, kind players, to look up and revisit.

At first the gallery will appear empty, but play through the episodes and revisit often so find it gradually filling up.

Many connections have two or three possible outcomes, these can be found by repeatedly playing the episodes, and in any order. Don't worry about restarting, the gallery progress is saved independently.

Decisions, decisions, decisions,

Many of you have already played through the first three episodes. You will have noticed the decisions screen at the end of each episode. Some of these decisions even influence those connections mentioned above. To give you a quick way of trying out different outcomes, we added a new feature, an option to 'decide again' for most of these decisions. This makes experimenting much easier and is a fun way of trying out cause and effect.

Don't forget though that there are many more connections than those decisions :)

Pretty much a year ago, on July 7th 2016, we released the first episode of The Lion's Song - Silence. 12 months later we are overwhelmed by the support and positive feedback we received from YOU, our loyal and close to our heart community, along the entire way, that brought us here today. From the entire team at Mi'pu'mi a stellar thank you to all of you! Today, we are very proud to present to you, Episode 4 - Closure, the final chapter of The Lion's Song.

Each of the first three episodes of The Lion's Song featured its own little standalone adventure with a unique protagonist, characters and narrative. Our aim was to let players dive into a rich world of fascinating stories with very different endings, which encourages them to replay each episode and take alternate routes. For Episode 4 we’re taking a different approach, bringing the first three stories together in a way that we hope will offer you a satisfying conclusion to the path you have chosen. The season’s finale, Episode 4 - Closure, will take you on a mysterious train ride that connects the storylines of all previous episodes. The final episode introduces a new character, that completes the group of 4 strangers in the mysterious train compartment at the beginning of all previous episodes.

Mi'pu'mi Games would like to give all fans of sepia colors and narrative adventure games a reason to rejoice today, announcing that the full release of our episodic series The Lion's Song will launch on July 13, 2017.

The launch will include the fourth and final Episode 4 - Closure coming to PC via Steam, along with all episodes debuting on iOS & Android as well as Mac.

In order to get you a head start for next week’s poll about The Lion’s Song: Episode 3 - Derivation, we would like to share a detailed character profile about Emma - the main protagonist of this episode - with you.

  Name: Emma Recniczek                                                                            Birth Date: October 16th, 1876                                                              Age: 38                                                                                       Appearance: determined, ingeniouos, humorous                             Nicknames: Emmi (as called by her father) 

Emma Recniczek is an Austro-Jewish mathematician and logician. She lives in a small apartment in the ninth district of Vienna, which she inherited from her father who died of tuberculosis. She is 38 and works at the library of the University of Vienna keeping book of... books. While this might sound dull, she sports an uncommon sense of (mathematical) humor paired with a strong will and belief in Mathematics and Logic.

Emma got into mathematics through her father Jan Recniczek (an important funder of the University) who convinced many of the lecturers at the time to let her attend classes. However, that was almost fifteen years ago. She worked on her own theories ever since, her job giving her access to some of the most relevant publications in Mathematics and Logic.

At her workplace, she conceals her own notebooks (containing her theories and thought experiments) inside the voluminous registers of the library, pretending to work when actually working on something else.

Emma is working on her big theory on differential logic in an attempt to describe the world around her through changes. She is so enmeshed in her theories that starts to perceive everything around her as changes over time. However, now, she can’t put it all together. She needs input, reflection, feedback from other Mathematicians, above all opinion leader of his time: Professor Gernot Zahler.

Will Emma find a way to discuss her theory with like-minded people? Will she shed light on the problem at the center of her theory in order to achieve a major breakthrough in Mathematics?
