MinKwon Protects Voters at Polling Sites on Election Day
On November 8, 2016, MinKwon’s staff and volunteers fanned out across Flushing and even in New Jersey to interview hundreds of Asian American voters leaving the polls that day. We supervised several sites in this voter protection effort organized by the Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund (AALDEF). MinKwon Marches for Hate-Free Zones in Queens
On December 5, 2016, we marched in the #HateFreeZone rally in Jackson Heights with over 1,000 people to express their support for immigrants, Black, Muslim, LGBTQ, women, Latino, workers, youth, and many other groups. We want our community members to feel safe in our communities and we will continue to show our support for them by setting up hate-free zones.
MinKwon Holds Post-Election Know-Your-Rights Workshop
On December 6, 2016, the MinKwon Center in partnership with Korean Community Services of Metropolitan New York, Inc. (KCS), the Korean American Human Service Providers Association (KAHSPA), and the Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs hosted an information session at St. George’s Church on immigrants’ rights and potential changes to immigration law. We provided information on how to protect immigrants’ rights in our communities and opened the floor to members of our community to ask any questions that they had about immigration policies.

We Are Here To Stay! MinKwon Heads to Washington, DC for Immigrant Rights Rally
On January 14, 2017, we were in Washington DC to show that immigrants are #HereToStay! With hundreds of others, we rallied against deportations and show support for DACA, sanctuaries of safety, and the deportation defense networks in cities, schools, churches and states.
