I was disappointed by Mara, written by #BrianWood and with art by #MingDoyle. Sold as if Akira, Hunger Games and Superman collided. The story of a young, popular athlete who develops superpowers and has her whole life turned upside down. Sounded great but I was left wanting more character development (more about being abandoned by her parents as a child maybe, her relationship with her teammate, her celebrity), and more of the future/world (corporations and sports rule this world) to make it all more believable. I just didn't really care about Mara. Great art but not much substance. #Mara #GraphicNovel #ComicBook
