Thomas asks, “How would you like to work for me? I've got room for a blond little twink like you. If you're interested.” Newt wants to ask, clarify that he means as a prostitute, but he knows it already and Thomas knows he's not stupid. It sounds like a choice. It's wrapped up neatly and presented as if everything since last night hasn't led up to this question in particular. He nods after taking a deep breath, and says, “I'm in.”

The Maze Runner High School AU:

Minho had gone with Sonya, as a friend, because Newt hadn’t wanted to go at all when Minho had asked him. Line a true punk-kid, he didn’t buy into the capitalist agenda that was prom, and he thought that neither should Minho. But they weren’t of the same coin, and Minho wanted the full “high school experience”, prom and all. It had been worse than he’d expected, especially since his boyfriend hadn’t been there to comment on the fact. In the end, Minho had left before the punch had even been spiked. Made some lame excuse to Sonya, and then found himself walking towards Newt’s. He thought that maybe if he was lucky, Newt would agree to slow-dance on the porch.

Newt hadn’t been jealous when Minho had told him he’d be going with Sonya to prom. Prom, in Newt’s opinion, wasn’t worth it. And since he was broke as it was, it was even less worth it. But he had wanted Minho to ditch the whole thing too, to spend the night with Newt, laughing about the fact that everyone else was at the stupid dance. So when Minho shows up after what can’t even be half an hour after the school has opened the doors for the evening, announcing how shit it was,  Newt’s in a mocking mood. Minho rolls his eyes and agrees that he was right, and then he gets all sappy and says he wanted to have been there with Newt. At least he knows how to get into Newt’s good graces, and Newt must admit that on the plus side: Minho looks dashing in a suit.

The Maze Runner High School AU:

It’s been months. They spent the whole summer together, learning every in and out of every possible way of each other. Then school starts again. And they have to face the harsh reality; Newt is still the topic of conversation. For reasons unknown, Minho isn’t. Maybe it’s for some sort of twisted “comradery” that the Runners let him off the hook and only goes after his boyfriend, but it doesn’t take long before Minho loses it. Newt’s one the best thing in his life, Minho fucking loves him, and Minho’s the first to swing a punch. 

The violence, he doesn’t like, but truth be told: Newt doesn’t think he’ll be able to ever forget that Minho just wanted to stand up to him. Newt hadn’t even been there, and Minho just wanted to defend his honour. Newt doesn’t need it, his honour is very well intact, thank you, but he still feels fuzzy all over. So, he tells Minho to ignore them, to let them say whatever they want to say, and he tells him that he loves him too. Just like that. No walls, no running. It’s the best goddamned feeling in the world.

The Maze Runner High School AU:

“…And I think it’d be foolish to not give this a go, to deny that we’re… you know. More.” He says it with a little frown like he’s surprised he’s even saying it. Minho, in any case, is surprised. Thrilled, over the moon, happy and speechless too, but most of all surprised. He’d never thought he’d get this close to the blue haired boy, especially not after fucking up so monumentally and now, here, the same boy tells him that they should be together. Like, a couple together, not just sleeping together. Minho doesn’t think he’s going to be able to stop smiling for at least a week.

He frowns because after he’s said it, he doesn’t feel the pull, he doesn’t want to take it back, he doesn’t want to run away and leave this whole thing behind. He just wants this, them, and there’s just no doubt that that is exactly what Minho wants as well. It’s time. Newt allows himself this and for whatever reason, he just knows that Minho will do anything he can to keep him. They fell into bed with each other before talking this out but with every touch, Minho screamed louder than words. He makes Newt feel… precious. Newt quirks his mouth, nods. And Minho, smiling like the idiot he is, says, “I’d really like that.”

But he doesn’t care if he’s the most stupid person in the entire world, as long as Newt rolls his eye at him like that, as long as Newt smiles because of him (even though he tries to hide it), as long as Newt doesn’t tell him to go away. Newt pats the cushion beside him, a silent indication for Minho to join him and it gives Minho a rush, he probably blushes, just because Newt accepts him, wants him to stay. He’d not even considered the fact that Newt might actually take him up on his offer.

Newt is tired of waiting. He’s tired of waiting for the right moment and being scared that it might never come, so he makes himself a moment. Without caring whether it will get him hurt later, he jumps right in and lets himself wallow in being happy, right here and now. Neither of them is drunk, they’re barely buzzed, and the kiss Newt lays upon Minho’s lips is sweet and chaste. Then it’s heavy and passionate. They never cross the line into desperate but they do lose themselves, and their clothes, by the other’s hands.
