So Iâm in the process of making another kissed Minnie for my kissing Minnie series, but I also want to rant about Minnie soâŚ.
I really hate when Minnieâs feelings are invalidated (especially anger). Whenever Minnie is angry no matter how valid, itâs always treated like a joke or that it doesnât matter, like itâs not a âseriousâ emotion. Youâre never really supposed to feel bad for Minnie when sheâs angry, only Mickey (because thatâs usually whoâs sheâs mad at). Youâre supposed to think âha, WOMEN amiâright?â, and then root for Mickey to get Minnie not to be mad at him anymore.
Itâs even worse when you realize youâre supposed to feel the opposite when sheâs sad, THATS when you feel bad for her. Like womenâs only valid emotions are happiness and sadness.
I wish Minnieâs emotions were written better, like you can give her anger issues, but you have to explore those emotions. Why does she feel this way? How do those emotions manifest themselves? Is there a way to make her feel better or cope with said emotions? That would give her so much dimension and character, and so fun to pick apart and analyze.
But no, we Minnie fans donât get nice things I suppose đâď¸đđĽďżź
If I had a nickel for every Au where minnie's refered to as "minerva" I would have 2 nickles! Witch isnt alot but I gotta ask if theres a reason for that or is it just a coincidence or a fandom thing?
It's actually a coincidence, but I wonder if we saw the same comic from 1942 that refers to her as such! Disney has never referred to her as such after the early days.
But uh yeah the reason I call her Minerva is because of the old comics. It was 1942 The Gleam Comic where she was first referred to as Minerva, that did again it was only a few before they phased it out idk if Walt decided just to keep it shortened or what but yeah for awhile canonically she was referred to as Minerva,

Minerva Mouse's Character & Personality
Minnie is the long known girlfriend of Mickey, who first appeared in the short "Plane Crazy" along with him. She's sweet in nature, fun-loving and quiet beautiful. In most appearances, Minnie is presented as Daisy's best friend. Her favorite hobbies are cooking, dancing, gardening, shopping, music, fashion and spending time with Mickey.
Minnie the Mouseâs first name is not Minnie. It is Minerva. Minnie Mouse is a nickname that was given to the character by Ub Iwerks and Walt Disney. Her 'birthdate' is November 18th.

Minerva Mouse - The Lady in Red
Fashionista, Femme Fatale, and Fantastically Fabulous. She enjoys shopping, fine dining, and private investigation because a lady can make a living doing what she loves. --- I decided to turn my Minnie redesign into a full OC and I'm leaning towards a Detective Noir theme for her only fabulous. The Design was so good, I just couldn't leave it as fan art. So now "Minnie" has her independence from the House of Mouse.
