I recently received an ask I just deleted right away, asking how I could not tell the difference between a dark skinned Romani woman and a light skinned Nazi from the MCU. I have a couple things to say.
1. Wanda did not sign up for Hydra and was not a Nazi in the MCU. She signed up with SHIELD. Hydra was, at the time, hiding behind the name of SHIELD, as people so conveniently forget.
2. Interesting it’s always Wanda mentioned, not Pietro, or the both of them. Just her. The misogyny is astounding.
3. People forget that Wanda was not always Romani in the Marvel comics. And she certainly did not start out having darker skin. In the beginning, she looked as white as white can be and there was no mention of Romani anything.
This isn’t exactly from the very beginning, but you get my point. She is white with green eyes and curly hair (which is not exclusive to any group of people).
I know things have changed. They’ve retconned her history many times. Comics do that to keep their characters fresh. I’m not hating on those changes. I love who Wanda is in the comics now. But I also love the Wanda before that, and the one from the MCU. I refuse to bring hate to this blog.
This is not open for discussion. I am not asking for anyone’s opinion. I am stating my own. This is my blog, and I will love every version of Wanda openly and freely. I will not bring your hate into my space. Kindly fuck off.
