17 - Kingdom Infrastructure and Color/Block Palette
Originally, this was meant to be one of the first posts for this project, but I decided it would be better to have actual builds to look at instead of just some blocks. Anything in this kingdom that could be considered infrastructure or property of the Crown in some way is made out of the same blocks to support the idea that there is a consistent plan/organizer behind major public works in this kingdom. So far this includes the city walls and guard towers, major bridges and roads, and eventually the castle overlooking the city. By using a consistent palette for certain builds, I have some opportunities for building lore and new buildings off that. Eventually there will be a large mine shaft/pit where all the stone comes from, and a logging company that collects all the wood.
I am using the Mizuno’s 16 Craft resource pack as I really like the soft colors and cottage core aesthetic. The main building block is polished diorite, sometimes mixed with plain diorite. Accents are done with polished andesite and chiseled stone bricks. The floors are made of oak wood planks, with the occasional dark oak log support. The top levels of towers and gates are made of dark oak logs and white terracotta, and all the roofs are made with cyan terracotta, with cobblestone framing.
