tbh i also hate how alan depicted the valkyries so bad
1st of all i initially thought they were literally bullying purple n mango. bc thats literally what high school girls do when they see u doing smth weird or stupid. they laugh at you. its not cute or an act of endearment unless you think women are just there to think youre cute.
2nd of all their entire personality became whimsical feminine giggly angelic residents. valkyrie are female angelic figures yes but from a warrior culture that deeply respected women and their capabilities, in anything else but especially war and other physical labor alan would consider "masculine".
also theyre apperantly neutral mobs. they would have gone after that player. but noo theyre too petite and frail and feminine they cant protect themselves they need a guy to do them justice π₯Ί
they cant even use the excuse of "oh they just went accurate to the mod" because THEY DIDNT!
hell the VILLAGERS. literal passive mobs whos only defense in vanilla are the guardian constructs they build, are easily taught to defend themselves in this series, and the color gang had their ass handed to them by a COOK. but theyre stereotypically implied to be masculine so its acceptable. but deitic figures for a warrior culture where even the women were active warriors? where theyre normally fully capable of defending themselves in-game? nooo they cant do anything they need their queen or some other savior for their poor maiden selves
like. Alan and his writers' misogyny goes way deeper than just. "ohh all the established female characters just happen to be motives and nothing more and he doesnt like his char getting mistaken for a girl". they take formidable and self sufficient characters and make them frail and defenseless just because theyre women
also i dont like that the initial reaction to mango building any connection with anyone other than the color gang ESPECIALLY a woman immediately made people go "wow!!! romance!!! now!!!" but like. thats a fandom issue not a writing issue n therefore not the point of this post
