Basic Stuff:

Fraternal twins - Mindes (Men-dees) and Mirja (Meer-ya)

Between 18-20 in their main story arc

Both are pretty genderfluid / gender nonconforming, although they aren’t viewed that way by others so much (Mindes was born to be a prince and Mirja a princess. Mindes was intended to fight for his kingdom and become a commander but was incredibly ill growing up. Mirja took his place, while Mindes serves as a princess now, going by his sister’s name while she goes by his. Nearly everyone apart from some of the people who live in work in the castle are unaware that they’ve essentially traded places, and they are careful not to use one another’s real names in the presence of anyone who doesn’t know. The main reason Mirja serves as a knight is because she’s much stronger, however the royal family didn’t want their kingdom to know the truth about Mindes’ illness and expose any weakness to their subjects and, even more importantly, their enemies).

That was a lot to say, but their pronouns change depending on who is speaking to them and how they are speaking about themselves. Mindes’ regular pronouns are he/him/his and Mirja’s are she/her/hers, unless the person speaking to/about them is unaware of their actual identities. Then swap names and pronouns for each person.

Mindes is 5′3″ (161 cm) and 115 lb (52 kg); Mirja is 5′6″ (170 cm) and 165 lb (75 kg)

Are attached at the hip when they aren’t separated due to Mirja’s duties. They are incredibly intimate with one another in many ways (they often sleep and bathe together, platonically cuddle, etc.). People who don’t understand their relationship may view it as strange, but that’s how it’s always been. Servants often joke about how they seem like lovers (that being said, they don’t engage in anything explicitly sexual).

That being said, when Mirja becomes romantically involved with another OC, Mindes does get jealous.

Because Mindes is weak physically, he studies instead to be a powerful mage. His specialty lies within abilities that require ice and snow manipulation. He tires out very quickly when using strong spells.

The kingdom the twins hail from is covered in snow and ice. The castle is old and cold, but everyone is used to that.

Random Personality Stuff:

Mindes like never leaves the castle. Ever. It’s too hard on his body to be exposed to the winds or any kind of strenuous activity. He lives a little bit of a vicarious life through Mirja, and when she comes home he always wants to hear about /everything/.

Mirja was trained to accept her role as a knight as protection for the entire kingdom, of course, but in her mind Mindes is the one she is /truly/ protecting.

Mindes may come across as meek, and Mirja as more confident, but they are actually fairly opposite in those respects. Mirja constantly berates herself for not being strong enough, while Mindes can be quite self-obsessed and entitled. 

I still can’t believe when I told Zeke about Mindes and Mirja he showed me Lorian and Lothric cutscene from DS3 and how their story had some similar aspects and now I’m like lord jesus please let me play that game bc I need more feels. I was honestly blushing so hard during that because even Lothric’s voice is similar to my HC for Mindes.

The knight is Frigga, a princess of a very cold land. She was supposed to remain in line for the throne of her kingdom, but when her twin brother was born very sickly, was forced to take his place instead. 

Her brother, an ice mage, is Mindes (whom I’ve tagged in stuff before). He is frail and much smaller than his sister, and stays in line for the throne, forced to take Frigga’s place. He has powerful abilities, but is worn out by them easily.

The two siblings and the court are the only ones who know which is which. Frigga is called Mindes, as a knight, and Mindes is called Frigga, as a princess. They are made to keep their true identity hidden, as it would be “unbecoming” for anyone apart from the court to know the truth.
