Design Origins:
Victini is visually designed after usagi-ringo, a style of cutting apples so that they resemble rabbits. The apple origin may be a reference to “The Big Apple” a nickname for New York City, which the Unova Region is primarily based on. Conceptually, it may be inspired by Nike from Greek mythology, or the Roman equivalent Victoria, with the wings on its lower back being based on Nike’s wings. Its fire typing may draw from the Eternal Flame, a concept which has been used to symbolise competition and victory at events such as the Olympic Games, it may also reference the torch held by the Statue of Liberty, since Victini resides at Liberty Garden, a location inspired by Liberty Island. Its association with “V” may be a reference to how Victini was introduced in Generation 5, with V being the Roman numeral for 5.
