installment 2 of ? upcoming games where i played the demo but my searches on tumblr only yield infuriating unrelated results so i must be the change i want to see in the world. my wife recommended this to me fresh off my obra dinn hype bc it has the lucas pope seal of approval and so far it does seem super intriguing. in this one you're a mind diver, which means exactly what it says on the tin. your client is a young woman who experienced memory loss around the time her boyfriend went missing, and it's your task of restoring her memories to find out what happened. you do this by swimming through her mind from scene to scene, listening in on echoes, fragments of conversation, and attempting to patch "memory holes" with the right objects afterwards. this in turn unlocks more echoes that will help patch other memory holes. sometimes the right objects might be in a different scene and so you have to navigate multiple memories at once.
i really enjoyed the strange, subdued experience of the "mind diving" and the style that really does make it feel like a bizarre reconstruction of real life events. the premise and the story so far intrigued me (though the direction it seems to be going in is pretty unsettling), and the puzzle/research aspect of it was fun. it's a little visually buggy right now, but i'm definitely looking forward to the full release some time this year!
