Tsurezure Children Short Review [ Spoiler Alert ]
Tsurezure Children, also known as Tsure*dure Children, is a anime of this season which never caught my eye in the beginning. Compared to the big hits of this season like Kakegurui, Made in Abyss and the final season of Monogatari, this short series seemed uninteresting and more like a waste of time to me. But the more weeks of this season passed the more people began to talk about it and so I decided to watch this series as well. By finally doing that, I was convinced by the contrary and I wanted to share my ânew thoughtsâ about this series with you.
So without further ado, letâs start.
StoryÂ
Now letâs start with the most important aspect when it comes to an anime: the story. And all I can say for Tsurezure Children is that there is no real coherent story as we know from many series. There is no real goal that will be achieved at the end of the series. But that is somehow a good aspect of this series. By abandoning things that are set to become real in the future one can enjoy the current situation more. But what is it that we enjoy then?
What this anime offers us to enjoy is an adorable and funny romance comedy of couples. We can see how male and female high school students try to confess their love to the person they care about more than anything else which sometimes ends in the way they want and sometimes even in unpredictable situations. Besides that there are also a few failures which show us the bittersweet side of love mixed with a lot of comedy to lighten up the mood afterwards. Even though there is nothing to expect as a goal for the end, there are still a lot of things for us to enjoy in exchange for that.
The characters and the RomCom
One of the aspects of this series which were bugging me was the sheer amount of characters this series offered me. I have seen a lot of anime like Mayoiga or Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru where the amount of characters is so huge that many of them only forcefully appeared for a few seconds and then disappeared forever. But that was not the case in Tsurezure Children. In this series every character, or rather every couple, is shown in a different way which makes this series different from the aforementioned ones. Instead of forcing the characters to be a part of every scene, they create a short sequence of the episode with each couple. Adding many of these scenes together and switching in-between those gives us the chance to react to each coupleâs problems and progressions individually.
In one scene we see the funny love-triangle like relationship of a girl with a brother complex, her Onii-chan and another girl talking about who loves whom and a few minutes later the scene changes to another couple, for example, the student council president and the deliquent. The second one is by the way my favorite couple simply because they are so different yet funny at the same time. The only aspect I would grump about is that I can not remember any of the characterâs names. Maybe it is because they are not mentioned as often as in other series like Mirai Nikki, where you can here the âYuki. Yuki. Yuki.â in your head simply by looking at Yuno.
Perhaps it is because there are no main characters in the whole series, just like Noble from the Youtube channel LostPause said, so that we can concentrate more on the feelings of each individual couple instead of their names. Or maybe it is just me and only I have a problem with that⊠who knows. Anyways, instead of a really painful love story like in Your Name, Your Lie in April or A Silent Voice, we mostly get a more cheerful one filled with RomCom situations which really is a variety nowadays.
Negative aspects
There is not really much about this anime that I can hate and I think one can not expect a short series to be perfect. Flaws are part of every series and that will never change. And Tsurezure Children has flaws as well. However, the only thing I would criticize about this series is the animation which is sometimes⊠weird. For example the picture below.
I donât know why but this scene really annoyed me more than I thought it would. The face looks completely distorted for a few seconds and, in my opinion, it makes him look more like a dog than a human . As I said there is not so much for this aspect so letâs jump to the next oneâŠ

Expectations for this show
Everyone can have certain expectations for a show that is currently still airing and, as someone who began to like this series, even I began to hope for some events to occur. The most important one for me is that some of the characters we see in the series should finally confess their feelings at the end. Even though we see how some couples live their life together, there are still a few boys and girls who could not muster up the courage to confess their feelings. And sometimes when they finally did this their confession failed because of different causes. So for me, the most important âwishâ is for them to finally end up together or, at least, get closer to each other instead of waiting for something to happen until the point where they do not love each other anymore.
Another thing I want to see is the next level for all of these couples: the dates. As lovely as the couples are, I am sure each of their dates would be funny and really interesting yet full of failures at the same time. I would really like to see them going around somewhere, for example the theater or a park, and do some even more weird stuff than what they are doing right now. Maybe we will see something in the next episodes, or maybe not. But I really hope it is the first one.
ConclusionÂ
As I said before Tsurezure Children surprised me when I was watching it. This series is one of the many good anime that disappears in the hype of other series and end up as a jewel that has to be digged out afterwards. Tsurezure Children brings the funny and enjoyable RomCom sub-genre back which has disappeared in the tear-jerker movies and series of the last few months.
In the end there is only one thing I can tell you for this show: watch it and make your own decision whether you like it or not. And if you like it then recommend it to other people who have not watched it yet just like I do right now. And with that, I say:
Have a nice day and see you next time.
