millhope is the brainchild of Thomas Mühlhoff, a musician and producer with a passion for crafting immersive, textured soundscapes that linger long after the music fades.
Born in 1984, Mühlhoff honed his skills in guitar, jazz, and pop during his studies, and spent years carving out a name in bands and projects like the duo Tom und Jenny, producing for artists such as Susanne Dobrusskin, and founding the Cologne-based label Hey!blau Records. Beyond music, he has also ventured into product design, creating unique items that blend functionality with a love for sound.
With millhope, Mühlhoff dives into a world of dreamy, layered sounds. His debut album, Truth and Dare, invites listeners on a hypnotic journey that pulses between Chillwave, Ambient Rock, and Downbeat. Enveloping synths and haunting guitar lines meet driving drums and deep bass, while distorted field recordings add a layer of mystery and texture. Blending music with visual elements, Truth and Dare becomes more than an album—it’s a full sensory experience, radiating a sense of hope and beauty that’s both calming and thought-provoking.

Millhope is Cologne-based producer and musician Thomas Mühlhoff. In the last two decades he has worked with artists such as Susanne Dobrusski (nominated for the Echo® with her band Dob Russkin), Jenny Thiele, Kai Otten, Geysir, and many others. After graduating in jazz and pop music, his current focus lies on composing producing music in the chillwave/downtempo/ambient genre.
The 80s-inspired sound, with nods to clas- sic TV soundtracks like Knight Rider and Stranger Things, is given a unique twist through the use of modern production techniques and a slower tempo.
Speaking about the project, millhope says, »I wanted to create music that captured the eerie vibe of the pandemic, but also offered a sense of hope and optimism. This album is my way of processing the strange times we‘re living in, and I hope it resonates with people who are going through similar experiences.« With its masterful blend of styles and emotions, millhope‘s debut album is sure to make an impact on the electronic music scene and beyond.
