MILLHEIM, PA
Many thanks to our neighbors for bringing us to Elk Creek! 20 minutes away, its an easy drive for brunch (breakfast burrito!) although the 11am open has us treading dangerously close to a missed nap. They have a ton of live music, and we keep meaning to head out there on a week night.
As best I can tell as a newcomer, Elk Creek has had a huge impact on the community, bringing lots of people from State College and Lewisburg. Other recent additions to the couple blocks of Main St. include a gallery and coffee shop, and I've heard good things about the two inns in town if you are looking for an overnight getaway.
We took a walk into the adjacent residential neighborhood and chatted with a woman restoring a massive Victorian home for a future bed and breakfast. A barn painted with the sign Nostalgia Hardware was alluring, but we did not make it over there (see above, child falling asleep).
