JOHNSTOWN, PA
Day trip! A chilly rainy day in March, but we needed to get out and about. We visited the Children’s Museum which is housed in the beautifully renovated Morris Paper Warehouse. The museum occupies only one floor of the Heritage Center complex but was a perfect size for young kids. Each room was packed with interactive exhibits. They could run the whole circuit on their own weaving between a mock grocery store, dress up area, building blocks, a flood table, and even race up and down through a structure representing a coal mine.
We got lunch at Our Sons Restaurant. Delicious perogies and fried veggies. We shared a bunch of deserts including some amazing apple pie and the local specialty called gobs (don’t call them whoopie pies).
Finally a walk around the downtown area which was shuttered for the weekend although we did see the flood markers on the town hall.
