There were days where Chancellor Cole, after yanking and tugging at the puppet strings of every member in the monarchy and aristocracy to his complete satisfaction, had a small patch of free time on his hands to pursue something that had grazed his interest.
Today was one of these days. While Cole was still confident that his plans, like all of his plans, were going to succeed and he was going to once again reinstate the Demon King back on his throne, he was always open to trying new things. It was always good to have back-up plans upon back-up plans after all, especially after maintaining contact with a future version of himself where things did go wrong. If Plan B failed, he had Plans C through Z dash 24.
So that's why he was here, dressed in his fine Hyrule uniform, standing on a mountain in the Forest Realm miles away from any civilization. It would've been a strange sight to see a tidy little politician more suited for desks and comfy chairs to be standing on a mountain standing high above the trees without any mountaineering gear. Thankfully for Cole, magic made scaling mountains far more convenient.
Pausing to check his surroundings, the demon removed the notes he took from the leatherbound tome out of his pocket and then examined his scribbily handmade map. A creature that could grant any wish, and multiple wishes at that. The legend probably embellished some things, like the ability to bring people back from the dead, but still his interest was piqued nonetheless. And Chancellor Cole was never one to leave an itch unscratched.
At worst, he wasted an afternoon and got dirt on his fine leather shoes. At best, his plans could be completed years ahead of schedule.
After all, why even use the Princess if he could just wish Malladus back to life...?
