I'm currently reading Heroes of Olympus before I read Kane Chronicles because I want to understand the Riordan lore before I do my silly little au (also because I'm gunna have Jason be brought back to life and be an ex of an oc so I need to understand his characterization).
But one thing I've been thinking is how to make the three main oc's moveset different from one another or at least have them be unique.
I knew for one oc named Cadence that her move set would tie into the blessings of different deities she was able to obtain. (Magical girl type vibes). Then, for Miley, I knew i wanted to make her magic based. But for Red, I was like, hm.... because all of my OCs in this au are just offshoot versions of my OCs in my own thing. While in my own thing, all my OCs use magic and have other abilities that just don't translate 100% to the Riordian verse.
So for Red, I don't want her just to be magic because then it doesn't make her any different from Miley (like yeah she does have different spells/charms but it would still be fully magic). Also, I want something unique because of who I'm planning to have their parentage be.
That being said, I was watching tiktoks about King from Tekken(this is relevant, I promise). One of the memes about King is that King is the most dangerous when he is low health because he will grapple you and then trap you in forever hell. And then it hit me.
I COULD HAVE RED HAVE A LUCHA INSPIRED COMBAT STYLE. Like yeah, she'll still use magic, but for combat, it'll be more hand to hand and lucha with magic being an aid to her instead of her depending on it. Which 1. I love luchadores and 2. Red has a strongman/woman type of a build, so it just translates well with making her a close combat.
So yeah :3 I lowkey want to rush through HoO so I can finally read Kane Chronicles because that's the main universe/characters I want to place the au in. I JUST WANT TO READ ABOUT SETH AND RA AND ALL THAT. BUT I NEED TO RRAD HoO FOR LORE AND WORLD BUILDING AND AAA.
