“So, uh, I’m off,” Shane says from the other room. Ilya can hear his steps heading towards the door. Ilya remains in the bed, undressed and unmoved, staring blankly at the wall. “Goodbye, Hollander,” is all he can say. Ilya hears the door click shut. It didn’t even slam. It closed softly. Almost makes it worse. A few words and a soft click, and Hollander is gone. “Fuuuck,” Ilya groans, teeth almost biting into the filter of his cigarette. We didn’t even kiss, Ilya thinks as he lets his head fall back against the headboard.

“We can ignore what happened in there. It was nothing,” Henry responds, still not turning around. “It can be nothing,” Alex answers and he takes just one step closer, like he’s afraid of spooking Henry if he makes a sudden move. “Or it can be something, if—” He clears his throat, as if he’s making sure that the next words out of his mouth are as clear as possible. “—if you want that too.”

Or: A locker room encounter that's been long overdue.

"Baby." "Don’t ‘baby’ me," he says. "At first it was those shorts that might as well have been a skirt—" "You liked them, didn't you?" Alex asks, wiggling his eyebrows. Henry doesn't answer, but the truth is written all over his face. "—and then, that bloody windbreaker that became transparent and stuck to your skin like it was a part of you. It's clear to everyone that you are toned and lean; you don't have to advertise it, you know?" Henry says, huffing. "It was like a blasted neon sign screaming Have you seen my sweaty chest? Do you want to lick it? "And did you…want to…lick it?" Alex asks as he steps onto Henry's lap in the armchair. He punctuates his question as he settles each leg around Henry's, the armchair large enough to hold them both comfortably.

Or: Alex's choice of running clothes makes Henry jealous and possessive. The only obvious solution is for him to make sure Alex knows who he belongs to.

The sun filters in through the window on their final day at the cottage.

Soft light and a warm breeze trickle in as Ilya is still asleep on his stomach, sheets pooled down around his waist. Shane woke up 10 minutes ago and he can't stop looking at his boyfriend's back.

Ilya's skin is peppered with freckles and moles and his soft inhales make his back muscles move slowly.

His skin is soft and warm and Shane can't stop himself from touching. He lets his fingers hover over Ilya's back, but soon enough—entranced by the movement—he decides to close the distance.

He reaches out, letting his fingertips trace the strong lines of Ilya's back. Grazing over a mole and then another, he draws an invisible line connecting them. Moving with care, fingertips slide along the shoulders and down the length of Ilya's spine.

Shane draws a line connecting everything like he is following a constellation. The way Ilya's muscles shift subtly beneath his touch makes it seem like stars dancing in the sky. Shane wants to touch them all, gather them in his palm, and make a wish.

"Moya lyubov," Ilya murmurs, face still squished against the pillow.

"Sorry I woke you," Shane says, pulling his hand away.

"Mmm, don't stop," Ilya says a bit clearer.

"Don't ever stop."
