I asked one person if this actually worked and 100% of respondents agreed, so I guess I'm posting this. Sorry.

So, you've written a sex scene, but find yourself asking, "Is this really sexy?" Thanks to whatever demons live inside my brain, we now have a simple method to answer that question!

All you need to do is replace all mentions of Naughty Bits with "Tab A" and/or "Slot B" to verify the fundamental sexiness. Is it still sexy? Can you make it sexy?

Example incoming — Imma try adding a partition because, in spite of the language, this is clearly... not IKEA instructions ._.

Also for the immense Cringe Factor like seriously what is up with me?

But anyway, I'm a writer. I've been working on my current WIP (if you can even call it that at this point, it's basically done) for like 4 years now and I'm kinda obsessed with it. I'm tentatively considering starting a new project while I finalise the details of ATOTH. I intend to self publish because the thought of relinquishing control gives me anxiety, plus I've seen the trad pub process up close and I'm not that patient... or willing to alter my vision to adhere to industry standards. I sometimes write short form, poetry and fanfic too.

If you're a writer and you keep seeing stuff like, "How do you decide how long your chapters are?" or "You need to make sure your chapters are all the same length!" etc, feel free to ignore it.

Chapters should only ever be as long as they need to be. Getting hung up on chapter length can lead to adding unnecessary padding or cutting necessary detail. Variety is the spice of life!
