On July 1, 1960, the American reconnaissance Boeing RB-47H Stratojet was shot down over the Barents Sea. The aircraft, during an electronic reconnaissance mission, was attacked by a Soviet MiG-19P. Of the six-man crew, only two men survived, and they were not released until January 1961.

During the Vietnam War, the advanced F-4 was struggling to handle MiG-19s and early MiG-21s, which were classed as "Day Fighters." Day fighters are a type of fighter aircraft designed primarily to operate, as the name implies, during the day. VPAF MiG-19 and MiG-21F-13 below.

The Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-19 is a Soviet second generation, single-seat, twinjet fighter aircraft and was the world's first mass-produced supersonic aircraft. It was the first Soviet production aircraft capable of supersonic speeds in level flight.
What were its best qualities? “The engines were powerful enough to get you out of a bad situation and the acceleration they provided was excellent, especially with afterburners.”
What were it worst qualities? “There were quite a few bad qualities but the worst, in my opinion, was the thick wing which made transonic speeds (just short of Mach 1) very rough to ride through and almost uncontrollable, although it employed ‘short arm’ and ‘long arm’ technology to cater for it.”
I've noticed that some of my favorite fighter jets are single-engined, have nose intakes, and swept wings.

But I realized, some planes with the same features are some if my least favorites. The most notable example are all made by the same company from the same country.
They are the MiG-15 Fagot

And the MiG-19 Farmer (but this one is a twin-jet)
I guess I like classic planes. Then again, I do love the YF-23 Black Widow II and thats not exactly a "classic plane"

Not tanks but bite me IL-2 Tank Crew hasn’t added MY BOY yet. When the Sherman is added, I’ll probably have more armor content.
In the mean time, DCS got a MiG-19P. It’s not an entirely finished product yet, there are notable issues with the flight model and some weird behavior with in cockpit switches and controls, but it’s most of the way there. I love older jets like this, they’re a lot more fun to fly than modern 4th gen flying computers, and they don’t take nearly as long to learn. It looks gorgeous too, IMO, aside from some slightly overdone prebaked shadows in the cockpit.
