Completely unfundie related but I need to rant
Okay, so my school isn’t semestered we have a year long system (which I’m not a fan of but that’s a rant for another time), which means we have midyears coming up. But how my school does midyears is completely illogical and just ends up creating more stress for us. Okay, so these exams are worth 20% of my final mark, but they’re only an hour long which makes the school feel like we should continue having classes, so after each midyear we still have a normal school day. To compensate for this we have what’s called a ‘black out period’ which means that we can’t have any test or projects due during this period however we are still allowed homework. The blackout period starts the evening of December 12, my first exam is in the morning of December 13.
As you can probably see there are some major problems with this. First of all, having them only an hour long means that the exams are worth less marks than if they were two hours long. So now every mistake I make is worth more than if I made that same mistake in a longer exam. Second of all having to go back to class after our midyears is frankly just stressful, especially since our teachers are currently scrambling to get us into a good spot before winter break comes. It also nicely transitions into the next problem, the black out. While it’s nice not having tests or projects during midyears, it means we have what should be two weeks of test crammed into one week. I’m pretty sure I have a test every day until my midyears. I don’t know how we’re supposed to study when we’re this busy. Also since we can still get homework and the teachers are rushing because of the upcoming break we end up getting a lot of homework which takes away from our studying time. Also since blackout starts the evening before midyears it’s not like we get a ton of time to study before hand.
And it’s not like there isn’t something else they can do. They changed to this system about 10 years ago. Before midyears would be two hour exams at the end of January. We wouldn’t have any school after the exams. My cousin went to school during the transition and she said the previous system was much easier and much less stressful. The only reason why they changed it was so that it could imitate the university system by having exams at around the same time, but then teachers complained that they didn’t teach enough content to have 2 hour exams, and that it was inconvenient to stop teaching right before the break.
TL;DR: My school has a very messed up way of scheduling midyears that leads to go through more stress and anxiety during this time and ultimately leads to lower marks.
Midyears or Finals or Whatever
Midyears are over tomorrow and I’m so damn happy
Term 2 week 8 (last week) was so hectic and stressful and crazy because it was the start of midyears, and I spent a lot of time studying (around 50% of the day!), but I survived! A lot of self-discipline, anxiety breakdowns and stressful moments of being overwhelmed by the things I need to cover, but at the end of the day we still picked ourselves up and got things done. I don’t use a bullet journal weekly spread because I can’t be consistent in making the spread due to lack of time, plus this planner gives me enough flexibility to be creative yet the fixed weekly spreads and dates make me secure enough.
Calculus
straight bullshit. i have re-learned the unit circle three times and guess what, i will never need to know it again. It’s not like i am going to be at the grocery store and look on the shelf and go “OH SHIT, I need to convert my pi radians in degrees into pi radians to see how much my Cheerios are going to cost.” No i’m not. it just UGHHHH

Hey guys!
Long time no see everyone! Today, I present you all with some brand new printables! So since my midyear exams are approaching, I’ve decided to make my exam timetable and why not share it with all of you?
With these timetables, you can use it for your actual exams to write up your calendar or, like me, you can plan out your study with the exam dates also there to keep in mind. I think this method also puts into perspective the time you actually have cause it’s saved me quite a few times.
This is my first set of printables so any feedback would be amazing! xx
You can access my brand new printables here!!
If you do use these, please like/reblog! Also if you use them in photos, I’m checking the tag #chaiandstudy !

Exams
With exams around the corner, its clearly time to start stressing out and not sleeping. I think our parents have it wrong, they try to convince us the Adult world is scarier than school. But your work doesnt get graded when youre an adult, Your parents dont yell at you anymore for getting a C. You dont sit at a table at midnight knowing youre going to fail that fucking test and just wishing you could die. Nah, that doesnt happen, its a special kind of stress, and its the last time you'll deal with it.
