Now it's officially on. My first C64 has just arrived along with a couple of bonuses (a cassette recorder and two joysticks). The insides were dusty as fuck, complete with a dead fly but I've managed to salvage the whole board, complete with a 8580 R5 SID chip. All I need now is 7 more and I'm off to order PCBs. Currently, the project's value stands at $15 roughly. I'm keeping the cassette player for now - there's a video on youtube of a midibox housed in one, so in case my masterplan fails, I'll go for this thing.Â
No to sie zaczelo. Przyjechal pierwszy C64 i to z bonusami (magnetofon i dwa joysticki). Wnetrze bylo kurewsko zakurzone, w srodku byla nawet martwa mucha, ale udalo sie bezpiecznie wydobyc cala plytke, na ktore dumnie stoi chip SID, model 8580 R5. Teraz potrzebuje jeszcze 7 takich i moge zamawiac plytki drukowane do syntha. Aktualna wartosc projektu to ok. 45 zlotych. Na razie nie pozbywam sie magnetofonu - jest filmik z midiboxem wsadzonym do wlasnie takiego magnetofonu, wiec jak moj genialny plan nie wyjdzie, to ta 'wersja minimum' bedzie jakas alternatywa.
sound-wise this the result I'm hoping for. The bass plain rocks, reminds of 90s house, but that's now surprise since that genre was created with FM synths.
