@middaypaintra replied to your post “is it weird that as a rape victim im upset when men are against...”
I'm personally all for what feminism stands for but there are a lot of rad fems and terfs who will attack cis and trans men and trans women for saying feminism is about the equality of genders and protecticing sexual assault victims of all kinds. I personally don't call myself a feminist or say I'm for feminism mainly to protect myself from backlash.
Yes I hear you, as a disabled panromantic asexual there are quite a # of feminists that make my life difficult as well (not that i’m comparing, just empathizing). If I’m hearing you right, you have been burned by feminists representing bigoted & toxic ideologies (of which there are too many to count) and it’s made feminism feel (& be) unsafe for you. Anyone that distances themselves from feminism for reasons like yours is doing the right thing for sure.Â
That said, you don’t seem to be “against” feminism in theory like the men anon is speaking of. Perhaps you’ve seen some good feminists do/say good things (I sincerely hope I’m one of them, or at least I really do try anyway), but you rightly do not trust us feminists and distance yourself for self-protection. Is that accurate? If so, I get that and it makes sense and does not make you “suspicious” like the men anon was talking about that dismiss it out of hand as purely a horrible thing.Â
I do hope though that eventually feminism can win everyone over, in that I hope it meets everyone’s needs better soon, yours included. :(
