more than art...
We don't live to create our art. We create art and live. That guy you see chain sawing the top of the fence post... is me. Your's truly, creator of the One Voice singing technique, owner of MMOVStudios.com online training studio, Head of Voice for the Texas State University Musical Theatre Program - Michael Maresca. Our art isn't our life. For many of us it's a career. Are you defined by your career? I believe that we are far more than our job says we are. What could be more important than your career? Glad you asked. What do you think? Yep. Health, family, friends, your spouse, dog, your special date tonight, the person your madly in love with, or your grand father near the end of his journey.
Sometimes our view of life can become skewed. We are taught to fight so hard for our dream (being a successful performing artist) that we lose sight of what is most important. Theres always a balance. Step up for what matters in life the next time you consider putting your life on the side lines for your art. Too many marriages, relationships, families, and friendships have been broken because someone lost sight of what was important. Start today, right now, with prioritizing what's matters to you and stop allowing your so called "art" control your life. You are the artist not the art. And every bottle needs to have something in it in order to pour something out. Go find life to fill you back up and remember that you need it to live.
Workshop Surprise
Guy: He Mr. Maresca! I just wanted to thank you in person for everything.
Michael: No no, this was my joy to jam with you all in this workshop today.
Guy: Well, more than today. You see, two years ago I attended your "Can't Sing", "Sing Smart Not Stupid", and "Eliminate Your Break" workshops. At the time, I was not a singer. It started with the "Can't Sing" workshop where I learned that it was possible for me to sing. Then u just went for it. Now, I'm the lead in my senior musical. So, thank you for everything.
Michael: Wow. Thanks for that amazing feedback - you've made my day. Just know that all I did was give you the knowledge, but you acted on it. Bravo to you Sir. Bravo!
