Sebastian grunted as he was suddenly slammed against the wall. He had a feeling if Grell were any rougher, it would’ve knocked the wind out of him.

More than anything, it was a surprise that she was strong enough to catch him off guard like this. So surprising, in fact, that despite it being very easy to escape from her grasp, Sebastian stayed right there, just to see what she was trying to do. However, when he looked up to her face, he found that exact same surprise there as well.

“…Is there something… that you needed?”

she’s    not    usually    this    clumsy,    but    it    can    be    excused    with    the    knowledge    that    her    heel    has    broken    off    and    she’s    fallen.    the    last    person    she’d    expected    to    fall    INTO    is    one    sebastian    michaelis,    now    shoved    into    the    wall    as    she’d    tried    to    steady    herself.    now,    normally    she    would    be    freaking    out    by    now    ----------------    her    shoe    !    that’s    her    favourite    pair    of    shoes    !    !    but    she    isn’t    going    to    let    a    demon    see    that.

“I’m really sorry.”

He stiffened, arching to evade the hand on the small of his back. The hand was warm and was clear on not letting go, and after he realized who it belonged to, he almost relaxed just a little bit. Well, Sebastian would have really relaxed if he knew where he was being directed to. It was clear Grell was doing it with purpose.

“Where do you intend on leading me?” He turned his head to look down at the woman just slightly shorter than him, his arms lax at his sides. There was no reason to resist, at least, not yet. It wasn’t like he was exactly fearful of Grell.

“ away, off into the night. “ grell replies, somewhat amused. she doesn’t seem to be lying though, because she’s leading him outside in a manner that would probably turn heads considering sebastian is a servant and she is clearly not. if anyone could actually see grell right now, she’s sure it would be the gossip of the century. 

❝I don’t mind having TWO butlers, darling. Oh-- but I think I have an itching suspicion on why you wouldn’t like that: you would become FIERCELY jealous for my attention! Poor thing! I’ll spare you such emotional turmoil by allowing you to remain here.❞

She took the rejection in stride. 

  The carriage bumps and groans as they trail further from the main streets, little noises of settling and then proceeding, wheels over pebbles and holes and a new one for the day- rain. It all, thankfully manages to bleed into white noise. It’s nearly a lullaby, no matter how mindlessly boring, allowing his eye lids to hold the weight of gold rather then remain feather light. However, the true culprit lies further then just the road before them. 

 Despite it still being in the earliest stages of noon very little light peeks in through the overcast, leaving Ciel’s jaw aching as he stifles a yawn, and his body having been effectively tricked into thinking it’s much later then it actually is. Winter is approaching and with it will come shorter days and more time holed up at a desk or entertaining. For now though his main concern is keeping himself from dozing off, fingers fiddling absently with the ring on his thumb. 

         “Sebastian...” His voice is low and as languid as honey. Fatigue has begun to take it’s hold on his limbs, much to his own dismay. There’s still a fair amount of items to check off his list for the day, and beyond that he simply has very little desire to retire early tonight regardless of if he’ll be able. 

      “When we return to the manor prepare earl grey as the tea for this afternoon.” He usually did not specify a specific tea, leaving it up to the demon’s own suggestion, but nothing else sounded quite as nice at the moment. The cool air still bites at his cheeks, the rainy water calling for the strong aroma of tea.

When Mei-Rin had accepted the bet, she had not thought she would lose. However, she had been wrong, and - was it just her imagination? - she would swear she could see a sparkle of triumph in Sebastian’s eyes. 

“You are enjoying this too much,” Ciel grumbled as the buther combed his hair back and tied it down regardless of his resistance. “Damn demon.”

He glared at the wig Sebastian had prepared for him. Unfortunately no matter how much he tried, he failed to transform it into something else with sheer willpower alone. Anything else would have sufficed, which was why he was so certain Sebastian had chosen this particular monstrosity. He considered kicking the demon in the chest and running off to hide, but only for a moment. It would not have been very lord like of him.

some cats just happen to like shiny things. and some cats steal shiny things to hoard. grell falls into the latter category ----- and appearing and disappearing at will means that it’s easy for her to steal sebastian’s pocket watch right from under his nose. and it’s very, very shiny indeed. it must be silver. she holds it up to her ear. ( tick. tick. tick. )
