Michael Haughton, US First Lady (Hillary Clinton), Aaliyah, US President (Bill Clinton) & Diane Haughton on the national televised "Christmas in Washington' where Aaliyah performed "The Christmas Song" & "What Child is This" live on December 21st, 1997 at the age of 19. At the closing of the show, she would join all performers on stage to perform "Oh Come all ye faithful".

Diane (born Diane Deborah Hankerson) is the mother of R&B legend, Aaliyah, and screenwriter Rashad Haughton. She is the widow of Michael Miguel Haughton and sister of Blackground Records founder, Barry Hankerson.

Unfortunately, there is very little information about Diane. This includes her past history and her being a singer herself at one point (before giving it up to support her daughter's singing career). There is also no information of how she is today and any projects she is doing behind the scenes for herself.

The Haughton family have always and continue to remain very private about their personal lives and continue to ask for privacy as they are still to this day grieving the loss of Aaliyah. The only details we have researched is that Mrs. Diane still lives in NY, close to Aaliyah's grave.

Diane (born Diane Deborah Hankerson) is the mother of R&B legend, Aaliyah, and screenwriter Rashad Haughton. She is the widow of Michael Miguel Haughton and sister of Blackground Records founder, Barry Hankerson.

Unfortunately, there is very little information about Diane. This includes her past history, and her being a singer herself at one point (before giving it up to support her daughter’s singing career).

It is possible that some aspects of her past may be revealed in the latest project she is undertaking, as there have been several hints shared online throughout the previous year (2023) suggesting that Diane is engaged in activities behind the scenes. For the first time in nearly two decades, fans have been presented with images of her alongside Aaliyah's former hairstylist, Tre' Major, who has also been recorded mentioning his involvement in a project with Mama Diane.

The Haughton family has consistently maintained a high level of privacy regarding their personal matters and continues to request respect for their privacy as they remain in mourning for Aaliyah and her late husband, Michael.

From one human to another, I do hope and pray that Ms. Haughton is ok and well; mentally, spiritually and physically, and I pray she is finding peace.

Happy Heavenly Birthday to Aaliyah's father, Michael Haughton.

January 10, 1951 - November 08, 2012.

Michael was of Jamaican heritage. It's said that his cause of death was due to a battle with Kidney disease. He is buried in Ferncliff Cemetery & Mausoleum in New York alongside his daughter, Aaliyah.
