The one actually pregnant is convinced they are going to die. The child being their death and their replacement is the only logical explanation they can think of for why this is happing. Fear, pain, confusion, isolation. Its a horrible and severely traumatic nine month. It changes their relationship with their neighbor in a way no one will ever understand. It break them apart while also forever bonding them together.

The personification is born of Mexican land and American immigration around 1823. It is born to two literal teenage nations who have zero knowledge of how nation biology even really work because they both were, until very recently, under the guardianship of nations who themselves born were through the Earth and never thought to tell their wards "hey by the way there is a 0.0000001% chance a personification can be born the human way if the time is right!" during they already lacking "how to be a nation" lessons.

The child is born. And the parent nation...doesn't die. And neither does the child. But instead of relief, a new fear grows. Who will this child be? Which people will it grow to represent? Will it still be our death? Once again its just two teenager who went seemingly overnight form being starcrossed teenage lovers to parents of a child they think is going to kill them.

And then, just like they did, the child grows extremely quickly. Even for a nation. It becomes obvious who they represent. Immigrants from the US is banned. But it does nothing to stop them from beginning their own revolution, and winning independence in 1836.

But the the Republic of Texas is never strong. Economic crisis after economic crisis weaken a debt ridden system of government that is from the start not very stable. The support for statehood outways the desire for independence. The United States annexes the already dying country in 1846.
