I've been seeing way too many white people complaining that Encanto is just a cheap version of Coco and it makes me furious because these two tell completely different stories!!??
It feels like these ignorant people see one Disney movie that represents latino culture and decide that that's enough and two movies that represent latino culture is already too much for them...
I am convinced if Encanto wouldn't play in Colombia or any Latin country, none of them would compare it to Coco.
Of course, if I wanted to, I could find a lot of similarities between those two movies but I feel like I could find just as many similarities if I choose any other Disney film to compare it to.
But I'm pretty sure the actual minor similarities that bother those people are the big families of poc and the Grandma as a matriarch, because that's the only major similarity they share, that other Disney movies don't have.
I'm just mad, these people get represented all the time and feel excluded so quickly once they see one or two movies that isn't about them. How entitled can they be???
