my jinmalos essay goes something like this:
even out of context this line is like gay as hell. why would you, a man, say this about another man, etc
but also. look. what my good good friend cygnahime pointed out to me (lyre helped) that why would you, a blade, say this about another blade,
it's more than that. except it's litterally just that, as well.
they're driving me insane.
malos existing for someone else's benefit? fine and normal. if that person is his driver. that's just like... kind of what blades do, you know? so why is he, a blade, saying this about not only another blade but about one who - isn't even his driver - he isn't even talking about his real actual driver, he's talking about jin, who is the whole reason he exists now - for jin's benefit. jin, who isn't his driver. jin, who is another blade.
it's a queer metaphor all the way down, you know?
jin is malos' stand-in driver. malos does not want a thing for himself - and he would rather frame it as for jin's sake than for amalthus' - what jin wants, what jin desires, i'll make your dream come true, he says, so stop putting yourself at risk
i'm with you, he tells jin, all the way
malos has not actually for real bothered to swap resonance to jin - maybe jin doesn't want that (he certainly is the only torna member without a blade of his own!), maybe malos doesn't know he can do that, maybe malos CAN'T DO THAT - i would beleive an aegis could but malos' core is cracked, you know, he's not functioning at 100%, - but the point is. nonetheless. malos has ascribed role of driver to jin. he lives as if jin is the one calling the shots. he lives so that he can do everything in his power to achieve jin's goal.
jin's not his driver. but malos acts like he is.
i exist for his benefit, he says, about the man who isn't even his driver, which from a blade, is a pretty strong declaration of love, and of existence, and it's not for the man it's supposed to be about
it's a queer metaphor. that's all he needs to say.
