💟- A memory that was so chaotic
#TW child abuse, mentions of blood and death
“Please, let’s stop for today. I cannot take it anymore.” – the girl, perhaps seven, perhaps nine, quietly begged. She was lying on a bed with more than a few IVs attached to her arms and wrists. Blood dripping from her wrists on the floor.
“Please…” – she repeated.
“You’ll have to hold a bit longer.” – a dark-haired man in dark glasses ordered the girl. She looked at him with pure disappointment in her blue eyes but did not protest. She closed her eyes and simply accepted the pain that was to come. She was not sure what she was more afraid of at that moment. The physical pain or the mental. Or the thought that she would fail Him.
When the two nurses approached her and injected something to her veins, the young girl whined in pain. It took the medical team a bit longer to attach another IV to the poor child. Her veins were weak and already overused.
“Please…” – the fair-haired girl asked again – “Please ask Father. He’ll allow you to stop today.”
The members of the research team looked at themselves. It was the first time since they started to experiment on the girl that she asked for "her father". As if he really was her father. As unexpected and troublesome, the man in glasses was not willing to comply.
“There are three more rounds and we’ll be done for today. Let’s start.” – he ordered. The other members of the team exchanged worrying looks, but none of them did anything to stop the experiment.
It started. As planned. Slowly. But suddenly the fair-haired girl gave a cry. A short sharp cry. It was not a human cry. More like an animal. No-one reacted. They had heard it before.
“Papa…” – she cried a moment later – “Papa, don’t let them do that…”
Nobody reacted. The fluid dripped slowly into the girl's body causing her more pain. And more pain. She sobbed quietly mumbling some words under her breath. Then it seemed she fainted.
And then something changed. Slowly. The research team was not fully aware of that. First it was a tiny shadow that appeared in the upper corner of the room. Then a white mist around the girl, slowly turning into darker energy, and then the girl disappeared in the cocoon of black evil energy.
“Stop the experiment. Get the King.” – the orders were given quickly as the cocoon enlarged but it was already too late. An invisible force locked the door and threw all the persons onto the walls. Screams filled the laboratory room and then all silenced.
Karlheinz felt the energy. He smiled. She had awoken. It had awoken. For the first time. He took another document to read. He had time. Although there probably would be some mess to clean.
Nunnally started to wake up. She did not remember where she was. She felt tired. And in pain. It took her a while to remember that it was…a day in a lab for her. The day that she was an object. She hated that but Papa wanted it, so it was good. But was she in the lab? She was too tired to open her eyes. She made an effort and touched the wrists. No needles. Nothing. It did not hurt that much. But why…
“Nunnally…” – she suddenly heard a soft voice; a voice that she desired so much to hear. Was it a dream? Was she dreaming? - “Nunnally…” – she heard it again – “I see you have woken up.”
The girl smiled. She was sure she was dreaming but it felt so real.
“Open your eyes, Nunnally.” – the voice instructed. She followed only to find a pair of golden eyes gently looking at her.
“Father…” – she mumbled – “I really tried…I really tried to be a good girl.”
“I know.” – the voice smiled – “You did very well. Now come here, I’ll carry you into your room. I want you to hug me and not look around. Is that understood, Nunnally?”
“Yes, Father.” – the girl confirmed the instructions. She did as she was told without asking questions. Always. She wanted to be good – “Will you eat with me today?” – she asked hiding her face in the golden-eyed man’s chest. The man smiled and patted the girl’s head – “I promise, I will. I will also stay with you until you fall asleep today.”
His words made the girl happy. She snuggled closer to the man’s chest and was trying not to fall asleep. He carried her away from the room. She did not see all that he saw. There was no need for her to see all that horror and destruction. The blood. The bodies. Smashed and destroyed equipment. The man smirked in satisfaction. He was right. And he can control it. As long as he can control her.
He kissed the girl’s flaxen head. Giving her so little and gaining so much. That’s the fair exchange. Or at least the exchange he liked.
“I love you, Papa.” – he heard the girl’s quiet voice.
“Shhhhhh.” – he hushed her – “You’re tired. You should rest now.”
“Yes, Papa…but you promised…”
“Shhhhh…” – he hushed her again – “We’ll do all I promised. Don’t you trust me?”
“Yes, Papa. I do.” – the girl called Nunnally said clearly ashamed. She snuggled closer to him falling asleep as he wanted. She felt safe. He was satisfied.
