seasons change
You were the snow, the blizzards, the ice. Embodiment of white paradise. Your day's were short, ending in dark skies. you always were strong and so concise.
You were the snowflakes on my lips, and the ice crystals on my fingertips. The freezing wind blowing around my hips, you were hot burning cacao in little sips.
Oh you also wear a Christmas light, illuminating streets, shining so bright. Enhancing even the darkest night, making everyone feel like they were alright.
And I was the foggy autum air, the misty winds blowing through your hair. The overripe crop falling down in despair. I was the truth with which you were to dare.
I was the last sunny rays on the ground, the last t-shirt weather to come around. Wind hushing through leaves was always my sound but also the flood under which all had been drowned.
Causw I was not only a golden fall, I was mighty and I could have had it all. Power in my hands, so wise and so tall control over you as I can recall.
I pretended to be just as cold as you, but being a winter just wasn't my truth. I was showers and pumpkins to be true and just acted like I could be winter too.
But no matter how hard we would've tried, you were December, I was October in disguise. We were able to exist side by side, but we were never meant to actually collide.
We did share some similarities, it was enough for a little company. A limited time we got along easily, but this is not our destiny.
You'll find the one with the cold in their veins. and I'll find the one to stand with me when it rains. You may have not been my hurricanes, but a piece of your soul always remains.

I have two types of synesthesia and it makes me relate to AURORA's Soft Universe
So, I've been wandering around and trying to discover what exactly is going on in my brain. And I uncovered it! I think.
I have both:
Spatial-Sequence SynesthesiaÂ
Kinesthetic Synesthesia
How it works:
I see things in terms of paths/motions of paths (example: writing a chapter can be like/feel like walking through a labyrinth, or shoving a spoon inside a honey pot)
I can experience the path/motion, turn it around, inspect it, feel its coldness/warmth and texture, taste it, tinker with it and feel it change real time
I like to think about it as a process of navigation.
Practical example:
When I'm doing my exams, and it's something like 'big text here' + alternatives a b c d e, I'll read the text to see its path, I'll take notice of any specific characteristics of it, what I call its spice (rough or clean path, shrubs, gentle or harsh touches, whispers in my ears but it's just the feeling not actual whispers), and then I'll read the possible answers and try to see which of them match the closest to how the text 'feels'/the text's path, overall. I have a success rate of 9/10 when doing it like this, instead of actually trying to figure out each word in a more formal way (which I can also do, by which I mean, trying to put less value in how I perceive the text and more on how I should properly interpret it, rationally). Cool, right? I blasted through my uni entrance exams doing that. On purely interpretative questions, such as English and Portuguese Literature, I rocked it. My English score has always been 9/10 or 10/10.
Another good example is how I need to picture/feel a story's core, and how I build it. The story is like a room in the house of my heart, but the room has no light, pure darkness. At first, I believe the room to be bare. But then carefully, I start exploring the room and I start discovering things (furniture) = characters, plot, plot twists, blood on the floor, smoke, etc. In a very tactile experience. And when I think I've felt enough (it's never enough), I get out of the dark room and try to replicate the path I took inside the room, but now in my mind's castle, which is bright, and I feel like I'm a detective putting a flashlight all over what I imagine the dark room would look like (by what I experienced/felt). This is the part of the story that is not the core, but the colors I give stuff that relates to its core.
[But sure, everything is just how I feel things, not actually 3D real.]
Which is why writing, to me, is like an adventure! A very fun one. I literally play detective, go on a journey (that feels equal to my own real life travels) and the sensory experience can be waaay stronger than what I feel in real life. But don't worry, it's not maladaptive daydreaming (I checked with a pro). It's more like a scientist in his own lab, going hihihi at his microbiology collection. :) and there's also the fact that it's my therapy, in more ways than one. It makes me peaceful.
I heard today the song "Soft Universe" by AURORA and I thought, AHH this is a song that feels like what I'm trying to say here (about synesthesia, how it feels like, and then how I go about writing).
Maybe this singer also has some kind of synesthesia?

There's ice in my water And when I drink, it cuts my tongue There's glass on the playground It cuts my skin when I run
And from the dark, into the light I saw a star burst into life And in the corner of your eye I saw a dream that never died
Speak to me, speak to me With love in your words Make for me, make for me A soft universe
My body falls off the side of her bed And now I know what love feels like Don't let me turn into pain All of this is loveliness
Chaos came, we laid our head Down on the feather cotton bed We find a heart and catch your breath Let the universe go red
Speak to me, speak to me With love in your words Make for me, make for me A soft universe
