I am hoping that certain Australian legislators (who shall not be named in case they get a ping from a web crawler from this post) aren't even aware that Tumblr and Ao3 exist, because I sure as hell won't be verifying myself for either come December.
After perusing the various inter-related legislation and the new astoundingly broad amended legislation, it seems there's a significant loophole for content being provided over radio waves.
I strongly recommend all those concerned about privacy and the increasing wave of global web surveillance to investigate alternatives like Lora radios using Meshcore or Meshtastic. In essence, it's a long-distance, licence-free, cell-provider and internet-free radio communication network using little radio devices you can purchase for as little as $10USD (although the average cost for me has been about A$60 for pre-built ones with a battery.) They're like a walkie textie, so don't have the capacity to send audio or images, but aside from the upfront hardware cost messaging everyone in your local mesh network is completely free forever. The vast majority of hardware options can be run on solar using a single 18650 battery (or other small rechargeable battery option of your choice) and can be run on solar because they don't use much power at all. Depending on how deep you want to get into it, both Meshtastic and Meshcore offer encrypted communication and options to either transmit or obscure/remove your location as you wish.
Although Lora radios are more distance-limited than other options like ham radio which enable you to talk to other licenced radio operators globally, it also costs far less to get into and doesn't require doing the certification. I do think doing the basic ham qualification is a good idea regardless given the current geopolitical climate, but the fact that you don't need to do any of that is a huge bonus of Meshtastic/Meshcore hardware. Plus, even with these tiny radios I regularly have conversations with people 150+km away, and others have reached mesh radios 300km+ away.
I can talk more about both if anyone is interested. Anyway, long story short is I was thinking if we could get more people around the world using these little radios we could form whole information (and potentially short-form fanfic) sharing communities.
In our ongoing effort to help as many people who want to be in radio who feel left behind or locked out, Alliance Amateur Radio Network has just launched the AARN Academy Our initial curriculum focuses on the FCC Technician Class Exam, using a three-course process to take you from "I think I might want to be a ham" to "I just passed my test AND I know what to do Day 1." Designed for the complete novice with little technical knowledge, we try to distill the vocabulary and procedures down to simple, easy-to-relate terms. Best part? It is FREE, just like membership to AARN (you don't need to be licensed to join AARN). We are an inclusive, liberal, and supportive collection of allies to all who feel marginalized in the hobby and life in general.

We strongly feel that regardless of race, gender and gender identity, sexual preference, financial situation, religious belief, neurodivergence, and any other marginalized groups of people have been under-represented in amateur radio to the point of exclusion. We are a safe space. If you are an operator or interested in radio communication (ham, GMRS, MURS, LoRA, CB, etc.) and want to be a part of something different and inclusive, come check us out.
