Fictober Event, 10/2
I've decided to freewrite some scenes from my original fiction in preparation for tackling it for real during NaNoWriMo, so here's prompt 2: "Just follow me. I know the area.”
"Are you sure about this, Merridan?" Tasha wiped the sweat from her eyes with her sleeve and adjusted her backpack. "I know we're getting paid for this, but this is the furthest we've ever been out to look for a target. How do we know he's going to survive out here long enough for us to find him?"
"Just follow me. I know the area." Merridan shifted the weight of his crossbow to his other shoulder and surveyed their surroundings. "The dig site should be up ahead."
"How far 'up ahead' are we talking here, mate? I seem to recall you saying something similar four hours ago. It's fucking disgusting out here. If I get any more mud caked onto these boots, they're going to be stuck to the ground—"
Fictober Event 10/6
I've decided to freewrite some scenes from my original fiction in preparation for tackling it for real during NaNoWriMo, so here's prompt 6 for @fictober-event: "Yes, I'm aware. Your point?"
"Tasha, this is insanity." Merridan tossed another log on the fire where it landed with a shower of ash and embers. "No one's ever gone that far into the Blightlands and come back in one piece."
"Maybe I'll be the first," Tasha countered. She brandished the map in Merridan's face. "This is it. The map to the ruins of Old Emiraithe. This could change everything."
"Yes, I'm aware. Your point?" Merridan scowled, his great, bushy eyebrows furrowing into the center of his forehead. "Regale me all you like with stories of treasure from the old empire, but me, personally, I prefer to be alive to spend it."
"Oh, come off it, Merridan." Tasha rolled up the map and thwacked him on the shoulder with it. "Never took you for a bleedin' coward."
