I've sent a million of these at this point lol. Coukd we see some shark merfolk that get extra worked up cause there's blood in the water?
Thanks ❤️❤️❤️
This was supposed to be an Earth Day Ask... from last year... Sorry!
You had decided to go swimming with sharks. Yes, you had heard how dangerous that it was. Especially the ones that chummed the waters to try to get as many as possible to the area (like the ones you were on…). However, there was no way that you were going to pass up on the trip. Not when you had worked so hard for the past two years. You had earned this vacation. You deserved to do everything and anything you wanted.
Two years of no vacations. Only, what?, three long weekends? You deserved this. Safety be damned.
As you were being lowered into the waters, you saw the sharks swirling around your destination. The part that finally started to make you nervous, though, was not the actual sharks. It was the mersharks that were starting to appear from the depths.
You had never seen a mershark upclose. They were considered solitary, and they rarely wanted anything to do with humans. Yet, the blood had drawn them out. A feeding frenzy.
Of course, they were smart. At least as smart as humans, but it wouldn't surprise you to learn that they were even more so. Especially with the way that these particular mersharks were staring at your body in that skintight scuba suit.
They were snapping their jaws open and shut, creating an interesting clicking sound that you had never heard before. A few were also making an almost... growling? sound, that seemed to be made when they were expelling water through their gills. You had never heard anything like that before. The water was distorting the sounds somewhat, but you still found them fascinating.
One, a surprisingly large lemon mershark, swam up to the cage. His sandy blonde skin reflected the light in a way that made him look almost gold. His soft yellow belly was so cute, you thought. It looked almost cartoonish with the softly arching line.
Then, your gaze lowered slightly, and you realized he was nude. Your face flushed when you saw his cocks hard against his lower belly. His fins doing little but framing the imposing sight. He snapped his jaws again, his teeth clinking together. The snapping sound making you shrink against the back of the cage.
That seemed to hurt his feelings, his dark eyes widening like a scolded puppy. Before you knew it, or could try to stop him, he was undoing the cage, reaching in to tug you out.
You didn't thrash. You didn't to look like prey. Where the fuck were the people in charge of this thing? Weren't they paying any attention to you?!
The mershark was chattering. That's all you could call it. Another mershark, though you were only mostly sure he was also a lemon shark, came over, chattering back and looking at you. Both males looked worried. The new, smaller one, was headbutting your legs and stomach, accidentally knocking against your oxygen tank. The larger one was holding you, his eyes scanning you frantically.
Wait, did these cute, but seemingly incredibly stupid, mermen think you were injured? Did they not understand you were upset because you were scared of them?
Before the thought could fully form, another bucketful of chum hit the water.
Something changed.
Their eyes turned nearly black as they snapped and slurped up the chum. A feeding frenzy starting to rile up. In your mind, you were already dead. There was no way you were going to survive this. However, instead of teeth ripping into your flesh, they were ripping into the fabric of your suit.
The larger one seemed to have more than half a brain, because he grabbed your tank, handing it to the smaller mershark to hold while he pushed open your legs to shred everything separating him from his prize.
You had heard that mersharks were easily aroused by blood, but you hadn't known that any would be here! You were not prepared to take those two massive lengths. Where were the people in charge?!
A sinking feeling pitted your stomach. Had you double checked that this was a regular shark dive verses a mershark dive? If this was a mershark dive, of course they weren't interferring.
Before you could try to express the misunderstanding, the larger mershark was already smearing whatever was throbbing from the head of his top cock against your entrance. The smaller one, still holding the oxygen tank, swam lower, his sandpaper tongue already lapping at your clit the second the larger one turned you to drag your back against his chest.
The smaller one was worshipping your clit. Running his rough tongue along it, dragging his teeth oh so lightly. The larger one was easing the first cock into your arousal swollen entrance (yes, you were embarrassed by how easily you accepted this change of events). He was only sliding in and out halfway before he notced the second one at your asshole.
That was when you felt like all thoughts had been pulled from your mind. You were clutching the oxygen mask despite not needing to. Relentless pleasure was lapping at your clit. An overwhelming fullness stretched your asshole. A deep pressure was pushing into your womb. Every thrust made your breasts bounce, your toes curl. Other mersharks were taking notice, but none moved to try to take you from the two males.
The larger one was trying to hold you mostly still against the smaller one's face. The smaller one was also squeezing your hips eagerly, trying to keep you in place as the larger one set an increasing pace.
Both cocks were sliding in and out of your holes in tandem. Stretching, filling, working your body. Each thrust in pushed you more against the tongue of the other. Drawing your pleasure peak closer and closer, despite your initial reluctance.
Finally, as the larger was biting at your neck to keep you still while pounding into you relentlessly, you spilled all over the tongue of the smaller one. The water carrying the scent of your ecstasy.
The smaller one finished just from your taste, spilling his seed into the nothingness of the water in front of him. The larger one was huffing and growling again, before he pushed so deep that you could feel his cocks rubbing together through the thin layer of your skin. His body jerking as he stuffed you with his seed.
Fuck. You really did need this vacation.

The salty sea air brushed gently through your open window, and a few loose-leaf sheets blew off your desk. You huffed, placing your pen down and getting up from your wooden chair which let out a loud screech. The draft sheets for your upcoming novel were scattered all over your desk. You thanked your past self for labeling each of the pages earlier on.
Finally gathering the draft and patting the pages together against the desk, you glanced at your digital clock. 1:05 am. You have been stuck in a writer’s block for almost three hours now. You were unsure how to keep the plot moving and make it lead up to the suspenseful twist towards the end of the novel. Rubbing your sore eyes, you decided that the best thing you needed right now was to relax, and what better way than to sit on the beach reading a book that you adored with the calming ocean sounds as a backdrop? Sure, being at the beach at 1 in the morning was a little self-destructive, but your sleep schedule was already a mess. Might as well make the most of the night and wind down.
You scurried around your beachside home, grabbed your book, locked your windows, and searched for a pair of jeans and a sweater to wear over your pajamas. Stepping out of your home, you breathed in the relaxing scent of the ocean air, grateful that you made the move closer to the Pacific Ocean. It was a different setting from the fast-paced lifestyle that the city had. Out here you felt more at peace, everything seemed to move slower and it was quieter, save for the whooshing sound of the waves now and then. As you descended the white wooden stairs that entered the beach, you glanced back at the small town that was farther uphill. From what you could see there were very few lights that were on, most of the stores out here closed at around 8 pm due to a majority being small family-owned storefronts. Another perk of the move that you enjoyed.
As your bare feet buried into the sand, you took a moment to take in the sight in front of you. The moon was full tonight, a milky white that illuminated the seaside in a calming glow. The waves rushed to the shore back and forth like a gentle dance. The dark ocean sparkled with the moonlight, and the cool air that came with the usual temperature drops caused a tranquil scene.
You made your way down to the shorefront, not too close to the water, yet far enough for you to watch as the tide pulled in and then pulled away again. You sat down on the sand, gazing out at sea for a moment before flipping through the pages of your book. You sat there for about thirty minutes or so, casually reading your book and taking in the nighttime scenery when a bright light glinted against your reading glasses. Your attention was pulled away from your book as you searched the area around you for the source of the sudden interruption from your fantasy world. The light was bright but not much larger than the size of a half-dollar coin. You tried your best to teach where the light was coming from, picking yourself up off of the ground as you followed where it was coming from. A silhouette of a person in the sand started to become clearer as you approached and you went into full panic mode. The person, from what you could tell, was lying on their side, a dark liquid soaking deep into the sand around them.
The sight of the unknown liquid caused you to move quicker, coming to a screeching halt when you tried to process what you were staring at. It looked like a person from afar, but now that you have a closer look you assumed that what you were staring at was a fish…human? A mermaid-like being from your old storybooks as a child. Except instead of a fishtail you were met with several tentacles. Eight to be exact.
Despite the octopus monster briefly causing you to be hesitant with your rescue, the sight of the suspicious liquid pulled you back into a helpful headspace. You bend down, touching the soiled sand as you coat your fingers with the sticky red liquid. Blood. The source of it you weren’t sure. But all you knew was that he was in desperate need of help. Your eyes roamed across the monster man's body, finding the source of the bleeding. An old barbed wire was buried deep in his torso. You couldn’t free him with your bare hands, risking cuts to your own if you did so, instead you checked to see if the fish monster was still alive. His chest seemed to rise and fall, meaning he could intake oxygen much like a human, though you didn’t want to risk seeing just how much longer he could do that for.
Rushing towards your house, you discarded your book and reading glasses onto your couch. You made a brief detour to your bathtub, hurriedly turning on the water and plugging the drain. You searched through your hall closet, shuffling through the toolbox you kept there before coming across a pair of wire cutters. With the adrenaline rush still in you, you made a beeline back to the beach.
“This is fine, this is fine, this is fine,” You kept chanting to yourself as you approached the octopus merman once more. “This is just like helping an injured animal? Human? This is fine.”
You bent down again, carefully cutting the wires away and freeing him from their sharp grip. The merman gave no response, as you attempted to hoist him up. You know it was probably better for him to wait and get professional help, but who would you call for something like this? Especially at this time of night. The hospital? An animal hotline? Folks might just think you were going crazy, and given the circumstances, you sure felt like it. You managed to drag the merman into your home, grimacing at the trail of blood you left. You made a mental note to clean it up as best as you could before someone saw it leading up your stairs and front porch. The last thing you needed on your record was a suspected murder charge.
Laying the man onto the bathroom floor, you rummaged underneath your sink cabinet for the first aid kit. It was novice work but you managed to stop the bleeding briefly and clean the wound with antiseptic before wrapping the gauze around him a few times for good measure. You then hoisted him up into the overflowing tub of water, quickly closing the faucet once some of the water spilled out over the edge. Something else to clean that you’ll worry about later. Your main priority was the blood now.
Seeing that the monster man seemed to be doing okay for now, you continued your work, cleaning up the blood around your property. Hoping the sea would wash away the rest of the evidence. By the time you came back, the octopus man was still passed out in the tub. It was getting late and with all the cleaning you did, you lost any motivation to clean up anything else all you wanted was rest. You laid yourself on your couch, having a good view of the bathroom from where you sat and you eventually dozed off.
。゚•┈꒰ა ♡ ໒꒱┈• 。゚
The next morning you were woken up by frantic splashing and an animalistic screech that reminded you of an old kraken movie. You shot up, rushing to the bathroom and almost running into the doorframe. Your injured patient had awoken, his dark long hair cascading over his face shielding him from your view. He let out a very snake-like hiss, his clawed fingers scratching against the bathtub’s ceramic, water spilling out of the tub. You raised your hands in defense, staying in place as you tried to calm him down.
“Hey, hey! You’re safe, it's okay!” You tried to reassure him. ”
He sneered, relaxing his shoulders slightly yet still keeping his guard up. “Release me.”
You tilted your head, trying to see around the man and check on his bandages. “I’m not sure I can do that right now, you’re still recovering. And you could get your wounds infected, especially if I don’t change your bandages.”
He lifted his head more and you caught a glimpse of his face. His skin looked like a corpse, with a very light purple hue to it. His eyes, a pale white with no irises that you could see just a blank empty stare, had dark circles underneath and his lips were the same darker color.
His nose looked like two slits and his teeth were black and sharp. His purple tentacles rested over the side of the tub, his many appendages slowly slinking around it. One of his hands hung over the edge too, sharp claws and webbed fingers were two features you instantly noticed.
The water sloshed as he moved slightly, tilting his head in curiosity yet the intense glare remained on his face. You slowly placed your hands down, moving to the sink to grab a fresh batch of medical gauze.
“I need to change your bandages.” You repeated, holding out the gauze and gesturing to your torso hoping he understood. The octopusman sneered when you made your way over to him again, but instantly winced from the pain. He curled in on himself, a guttural groan leaving his lips as you started to notice the pinkish tint in the tub. Angry or not, you couldn’t leave him with his soiled bandages.
You took in a deep breath, sucked in your fear, and approached closer ignoring the territorial growl he gave you. You reached out towards him, pushing his arms away from his torso while you unwrapped the soiled bandages. You didn’t know much about fish health, especially fish monster health, but you thought keeping him in the water helped a lot. Especially since you saw gills along the sides of his neck and just below his ribs on either side of his torso.
The monster man seemed to calm down after the initial defensive state he took. He opted for staring at you, his blank eyes unmoving from your form as you worked. After the bandage was removed, you began draining the tub, filtering out the dirty water with the running water you turned on from the tap. You checked on his wound, which started healing remarkably quicker than you thought. You started to wrap the clean gauze around his torso, noticing how his muscles tensed at the stinging pain.
You quickly apologized, trying to work a little faster so he could go back to relaxing as best as he could in your bathtub. You could still feel the cold stare his eyes had on you and when you finally lifted your head you jumped back a bit from how close he was. He had an unreadable expression on his face. His brows knit together in either curiosity or disdain for your presence, you weren’t sure. Your nose brushed just against the ridge of his nostril slits, his deep empty pools of white never wavering from your own eyes.
“Release me, human.” It sounded more like a request this time rather than a demand. His voice took on a softer tone you didn’t think you would hear from him.
“Shouldn’t you rest?” You asked, unmoving. “You were passed out on the beach when I found you. Are you sure you could swim under your conditions now?”
His tentacles sloshed in the water, some of the liquid spilling over the sides in the process. “Am I to sit here as your pet until then?”
“You’re more like a patient...or a guest at this point?” You shrugged, backing away slowly. “I wasn’t sure if you could last long without water.”
You gestured towards the bathtub, his eyes following your hands to glance down at the ceramic tub. He let out a weird clicking and hissing sound, shaking his head as he sank into the water. You watched as he closed his eyes, the gills under his ribs expanding and then relaxing. You paused for a moment, watching as he remained unmoving before you stood up.
“Your name, what is it?” His voice caught you off guard, especially with how calm it sounded. No hints of malice laced in his words, just a genuine question out of curiosity.
You told him your name, listening to him repeat it back to see if he said it right. “What about you? What’s yours?” You asked.
There was a pause. “I am called Vasa.”
The water sloshed at his movements again as he peered over the edge of the tub, his empty eyes staring up at you. You said his name back, earning a nod of approval from Vasa at your pronunciation.
“How long am I to stay here?” He questioned, stretching his arm against the side of the tub before letting it hang there for a second. “I need to return, you cannot keep me here for long.”
“I know that, but you’re obviously still in pain.” You sighed. “Maybe a few days or a week? That should be enough time to get you to heal.”
Vasa went silent again, leaning his head against his forearm. He gave you a curt nod, closing his eyes and lazily moving his tentacles in the water. You assumed the conversation was over and decided to stand up and leave your bathroom. You had some errands to run that day to keep yourself busy. There was the transcript you had to keep writing, then a bit of cleaning and restocking your fridge. You paused, as you sat down at your desk again, the thought suddenly dawning over you.
What did tentacle fish monsters even eat? You doubted there was an answer to your inquiry from Google, yet you couldn’t help but reach for your phone and quickly type in the words “Fish Octopus Diet.” You skimmed the first few links, settling on adding various sorts of seafood and a few vegetables for good measure. It was a little expensive the more you thought about it, but you had to take into account that Vasa might be staying with you for a bit longer. Up until he recovered of course.
You managed to write a little more of your transcript before heading out for the town’s local market. You had stopped by the bathroom to check on Vasa, noticing he had sunk into the tub again and his eyes remained closed. Assuming he was asleep, you dimmed the lights in the bathroom and headed out. The trip didn’t take very long since the small town you were in only had one major market. Besides the awkward looks and sideways glances you got for buying out so much seafood, you managed to do the round trip in record time. You were also very grateful you lived near an ocean town since a lot of the seafood was freshly caught and in great abundance.
You brought your haul back into your home, taking out the batch of clams from one of the big brown bags. You walked towards your bathroom but not before making a quick detour to your kitchen to pick up a knife. Flicking on the lights, you hear the water sloshing again as Vasa’s head emerges from the water.
“I’m back!” You triumphantly announced, waving the bag of clams up for him to see. “And I brought you some food.”
You sat close to the tub, opened the bag, and got to work on shucking the clams open. Vasa watched you, tilting his head at the small knife you had in your hand.
“Can you not prepare it on your own?” He reached out a webbed hand, wordlessly asking you to hand him the clam. You struggled with the knife on the clam a little more before sighing and handing it to him.
“They make it look easier on TV.”
There was a raspy-sounding hiss from him and if you hadn’t noticed the curve of his lips and the crinkle of his eyes from the abnormally wide smile on his face you wouldn’t have known he was laughing. It was very animalistic, yet you couldn’t help but be entranced by him a little more. There was a loud crack as Vasa effortlessly split the clam open with his sharp claws, he tilted his head back, taking a deep gulp of the gooey insides. You watched his throat as he ate, noticing small gills at the sides of his neck too that fluttered with every swallow he took. He stopped after popping open his third clam, noticing the intense stare you had on him. You flinched once you were caught, opting to turn your gaze back down to the grocery back near your feet. You had made a couple of stops at some other stores for snacks for yourself. Removing the wrapper to the chocolate bar you took a small bite from the treat with a tiny snap.
“What is that?” Vasa’s voice echoed in the silent bathroom. You took another mouthful of the treat. You broke the candy bar into two small halves, holding out one towards Vasa.
“S’chocolate. Wan’ shome?” You knew it was bad manners to talk with your mouth full, but maybe fish people had slightly different customs than humans. You watched as Vasa leaned over the edge of the tub, a bit of the water dripping off of the side, as he sniffed the chocolate. His nostrils flared with each sniff he took before a long, dark tongue slithered out of his thin lips. He licked the bar slowly, recoiling after a moment once the taste finally registered.
“Humans are strange creatures.” His voice sounded raspy as he reeled away from the chocolate, handing the treat back to you.
You hummed, rewrapping the chocolate and leaning against the tub. You crossed your legs in front of you as you gave him a pointed look. “Could say the same about you.”
He let out an animalistic hissing sound, a weird mix between a sneer and a laugh. He composed himself, chuckling every now and then as he reached out to hold a strand of your hair in between his index and thumb fingers. “You do not even know what my kind is. Humans still refer to us as mermaids.”
“Are you not a merman…or something like it?”
“Something like it.” He repeated back to you, still studying your face. “We refer to each other with a different name in our tongue. But the myth you humans created is called cecaelia. A rather interesting name for us.”
As you stared into his eyes, you hadn’t realized how vibrant they looked up close. Despite the lack of a pupil, they were clear and reminded you of two bright pearls. They reflected the light interestingly. Vasa went quiet, studying your features, letting out a clicking sound now and then. He finally let go of your hair, the water in the tub making a sloshing sound as he shifted back into it. Vasa submerged himself into the water, a few bubbles escaping through his nostrils as he did. You found his behavior adorable and almost childish. You finished up the candy bar you were chewing, leaving the one he discarded wrapped up and next to the tub. If he wanted to try again he could, if not then you could toss out the $1.50 you spent at the convenience store.
You got up from your seated position, clapping off any of the chocolate residue on your hands. You glanced back at him, noticing his head had peaked out of the water and his blank eyes stared up at you expectantly.
“You are leaving? It is earlier than last time.” Vasa rasped out, more of his head poking through the water. You gave him an apologetic smile in response, head tilting back to where your desk with various papers strewn about sat.
“I have a draft I gotta send out soon. The sooner I get back to work the quicker I can get it done.” You explained.
He went silent for a moment before humming and receding into the water. But not before he let out a quiet, “Hurry back.” One you had almost missed as you exited your bathroom.
While you sat at your desk, typing away on your keyboard, you couldn’t help but occasionally glance back at where you had left Vasa. Your bathroom light was still on, the door opened halfway letting out a bit of light into the dark hallway. It was strange, you only just met him and it felt like the two of you had a connection. A weird pull to him that you couldn’t quite explain. You were beginning to enjoy spending time with him, the small conversations you’ve had and occasionally rewrapping his wounds brought a sense of familiarity to your life. A much-needed change from the constant schedule you had kept since you moved there.
You stretched your arms high above your head with a tired yawn, glancing at the digital clock next to your desk. It was about 6:50 pm. The sun’s rays came in through your window causing your living room to be lit up in a symphony of orange and yellows. You closed your laptop, feeling like you made an ample amount of progress. Leaning back in your chair you glanced back at the bathroom, realizing the occasional movement from Vasa had gone strangely silent.
“Vasa?” Your voice called into the empty hallway. You were met with the deafening silence, your heart dropped slightly after a moment. You quickly got up from your desk, dropping a few stray sheets of draft paper as you did. You made a beeline for the bathroom, throwing open the door and glancing into the tub.
Vasa’s body floated on the surface of the water. You couldn’t tell if he was still breathing, he seemed deadly still, unmoving. You kneeled next to the tub to get a better look, holding your breath as you watched his chest. It didn’t rise and fall and the way the water sloshed slightly with how he floated against it reminded you of the goldfish you found dead back in the 2nd grade.
At that revelation, you got put into panic mode, darting forward to lift his torso from the water ignoring how your clothes instantly got soaked. You shook him slightly, calling his name as his head lolled to the side. You gave him another harsh shake, noticing as he let out a series of clicking sounds before he attempted to push you off of him.
After a second more of struggling, you sat yourself up against the tub, letting out a sigh of relief.
“What on earth were you doing?” He hissed at you, his blank eyes squinting as he bared his sharp teeth at you. You tilted your head towards him, the concern on your face causing him to ease up on his hostility. Vasa’s expression went from rage-filled to confused as he leaned forward to bring your faces closer together. “What is wrong, human?”
Seeing that he was alright, you shook your head giving him a sheepish grin. “Nothing I’m…I’m just glad you’re okay is all.”
You felt a little silly, jumping to the conclusion that he was dead. You hadn’t even seen how he looked when he slept, a much less urgent approach would have been better. He let out a weird hissing sound with his teeth. You assumed he was mad at you again, instead, he reached out and lightly brushed your cheek with the knuckles of his webbed fingers. Your immediate reaction was to flinch because it caught you off guard, causing Vasa to instantly pull back his touch. You stared at each other in silence, finding a weird comfort in his gaze again. After another pause between the two of you, Vasa was the one to speak first.
“Did you worry?” It was a simple question, one that had a simple answer. Yet something in you caused you to open your mouth before closing it again. You’ve only known each other for a few days at this point. Were you that lonely to get attached to him this quickly?
Vasa took your silence as a yes, causing him to reach out to you again. He touched a strand of your hair, brushing it away from your forehead. His claws scraped across your skin, not drawing blood but enough to cause a shiver up your spine. His hand lowered to where your lips were, touching your lips and then then traveled lower. He was observing you, watching your every reaction as his hand went lower. It stopped at the side of your neck, hovering there for a moment. Vasa used his other hand to touch where his gills were located on his neck.
“My kind cannot drown.” Any hint of him having a snooty attitude was nonexistent. Instead, his voice was calm and gentle. He was trying to reassure you. “Our gills allow us to breathe in the water. Occasionally we can intake oxygen for a short time.”
His many tentacles that hung off the side of the tub reached out to you, wrapping themselves around your arms and torso. It felt like he was hugging you. A strange tentacled hug. He didn’t pull you closer to him though. The tentacles were also loose around you, allowing you to back away from him at any time.
He said your name in a lowered voice, capturing your attention again. “So, you should not worry about me.”
The look he gave you as he spoke made your heart racing. His voice was soft and full of something more intimate. If you could even call it that. But you knew the mood between the both of you had shifted. Your eyes flickered to his lips again and slowly, hesitantly, you leaned forward. Vasa remained frozen in place, watching you with an unreadable expression.
A sudden ring caused you to jolt back in his hold. His tentacles still held you firm as you turned your head towards the bathroom door. The ringing on your landline soon stopped, leaving silence for a moment before the machine beeped.
“Hey. Just wanted to call, check in, and see how that transcript was going. You must be out of the house right now so you can call me back at this number when you can.” The recorded message from the machine echoed throughout your living room. You let out a deep exhale through your nose, glancing at Vasa who still was staring at you expectedly.
“I, um…” You trailed off, watching as he leaned closer to you before you pulled away, a flash of hurt crossing his face briefly, eyebrows furrowing as you tried to untangle yourself from his tentacles. “I should go answer that. It must’ve been important if they’re calling now.”
Vasa let out a few clicking sounds, reluctantly letting you go. “As you wish.”
He sunk back into the bathtub, a few of his tentacles going back into the water as he closed his eyes. You stayed seated close to the tub for a second, watching Vasa float for a moment. You got up, headed into the living room, and left the door slightly ajar.
This was for the best, you tried telling yourself. You had only met for a few days, the two of you were from completely different worlds. You weren’t sure what you were about to do if the phone hadn’t rang, but you were glad you didn’t. So why were you feeling a heavy weight on your chest and a reluctance to leave him behind?
Can i request a fic for either merman/fishman nathan or fae skwisgaar falling for a human reader?

——
As you step down off of the plane, a gust of wind blows past your face. It’s warm and inviting, it draws you closer inward to the island. The setting sun is hot as well and you're glad you brought enough clothes for the weather. You trudge away from the plane and look up the directions to your hotel on your phone. It doesn't take long before you walk through the hotel's fancy doors and check in at the front desk.
The walls are white with gold trim and fancy small chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. You never would have been able to afford this trip on your own but you had won a free two-week trip in a work competition. You had to pay for stuff like dinner and room service, or whatever else suited your fancy, but you had saved up enough money to be able to get those things so there was nothing to worry about.
You flop down on the big plush bed in your room, unbelievably exhausted from the seven-hour flight you had just been on. You always found it curious how you had to go through something so tiring and uncomfortable just to get to a nice place to relax. Soon enough, you're drowsing off and asleep in no time. Your dreams are filled with tropical fish and hot, hot sand.
Waking up, you look around the room in confusion before you remember exactly where you are. It's been so long since you've been on a vacation, you can barely even remember how it is to feel carefree and relaxed. You don't work a particularly physically demanding job, it's just a desk job at an office, but it still takes its toll. This vacation is more than well-needed.
You hop off the bed and get dressed in a fun swimsuit you had bought a few weeks prior, it wasn't very expensive but it looks good on you. You had wanted to head down to the beach as quick as you could, wanting to get there either before others or to find a nice place that's fairly private. You never really liked swimming in front of people, it's too nerve-wracking.
Walking out of the hotel and into the blaring sun is refreshing, where you live is rather cold this time of year so it's nice to be somewhere warm. You make sure you have your sunblock and water, and anything else you could need, in your bag and when you find it's all there you set off on your way.
The main beach is crowded and people with their families play in the water, as sweet as it is it's not really what you want right now. You hop along a different way and search for an area with fewer people. And it's behind a stack of rocks that you find a small alcove that seems practically untouched by man. There's a deep water pool in the middle that leads out into the ocean, and there's a natural awning made of stone above you. It's like you're own personal cave.
You walk in and try not to disturb the silence or any formation of rock you come about, you'd like to leave this place exactly as you found it so that maybe one day another person looking for some solitude can find recluse here as well. You recline back against a towel you laid down on the sand, and slather your sunblock onto your skin. The sun is still shining far up above, meaning you have as much time as you'd like here. This specific hotel/resort doesn't close their beaches at night either, so if you really wanted to you could stay until it gets dark, but that sounds slightly frightening so you decide against it.
You lay down for a few minutes but quickly grow restless and choose to wade through the clear turquoise water. It looks so gorgeous you barely believe it's real, back home you never really see water this beautiful. You can see your legs through the water as you swim out farther, the natural pool is wide and very deep and it's like having your own private little swimming pool.
Swimming has always been a favorite activity of yours, it's a shame you rarely get to indulge in it. The water is cool against your warm skin and it makes you never want to leave, you're glad you have two weeks here because it'd be hell if it was just a weekend. You float on your back and look up at the stone ceiling, there are little pieces of moss clinging to it and crawling down the walls. You close your eyes and bask in the ambiance, the flow of the water, and the far-off sound of distant laughing and playing. The sound of the ocean waves hitting sand, rocks tumbling quietly, echoes of birds cawing. Wait-- rocks tumbling?
You open your eyes quickly and scan the nearby area, it's now eerily quiet and nothing seems to be around but you know you heard it, was someone spying on you?
“Hello? Is someone there?” You call quietly, it makes you cringe to think that's exactly what someone says before they die in every movie ever. You spin around in the water, and suddenly you hate that you can't feel the ground beneath your feet. You swim closer to the edge where the sand drop-off is, and even though you're going as fast as you can you still feel the cold, slimy hand that touches your ankle. You shriek and flop up onto the ground, you fumble and crawl as fast as you can away from the water.
You try to regulate your hyperventilating, try to calm down at least a little to see what could've grabbed you in the water. It was probably just some seaweed, but when you had looked at the water before the bottom of the pool was just sand, with no greenery whatsoever. And when you look down now, you see the same. Except for this time, you can see the small cave at the bottom of the wall of the pool. Maybe a small squid or octopus lives in there and you had just freaked it out? It didn't feel like a tentacle though, and wouldn't you have marks from the suction cups? But there are no marks on your ankle and you're starting to get even more freaked out without any answers.
You pack up your things and leave earlier than you would've liked. Now in the hotel room, you inspect your ankle for any marks or indication as to what could've grabbed you. But there's nothing there except for the ever lingering feeling of slimy webbed fingers.
The next day you decide to investigate some more, so you head back down to the cove with a deep feeling settled into your gut. Looking down into the blue-green water is unsettling and has lost its relaxing qualities now that you know something lurks within.
It doesn't take long before you see a flash of what looks like neon green, and a thin webbed...thing? It's sort of like a large fin but, and you looked it up last night, there aren't any large fish or squid in this area. So what could that possibly be down there? It wiggles from side to side, almost like it's shaking in fear. A long, taloned hand reaches out and quickly pulls in its fin.
You gasp and lurch back, but find yourself creeping back to the water. That was a suspiciously human-like hand. Except it had webbing between each finger and long, pointed dark green talons instead of regular fingernails. Its skin was a mottled green, almost translucent as well almost like those deep-sea creatures that live on the bottom of the ocean floor. If that is some sort of fish, why is it all the way up here? And why is it so human-shaped?
The water ripples as its tail seems to unfurl out of the little cave it resides in like it's slowly leaning out to check if you're still there. And sure enough, a mess of black hair peaks out of the cave and turns up to face you. Its big neon green eyes stare up and widen at the sight of you. It makes a loud chirp that you can hear from outside of the water, it makes you jump and almost fall into the water. But you hold on tight and watch as the fish-like man cowers back in his cave.
You stay there for a little longer in hopes of seeing him again. A low rumbling emanates steadily from the cave below, it hiccups every once in a while but stays fairly constant. You think he's trying to comfort himself with the low purr-like sound. He doesn't seem to have met a human before and you hope he isn't violent, he doesn't seem to be.
Soon enough, he peaks out of his cave once more, but he doesn't see you at the edge so he creeps further up the wall. You backed off about thirty minutes ago and are now reading a book at the back of the cove. His jet black hair makes a quiet splashing sound as it crests out of the water, his vibrant eyes cast their gaze on you.
A barely-there chirp sound leaves him as his mouth opens slightly. How is he making that sound? You look up at him and wave hesitantly, you've grown fairly comfortable with the idea of fishmen in a short amount of time but you're still fairly wary of him.
He ducks down quickly at the movement of your hand, he's obviously not familiar with the gesture. He quickly regains his confidence and peaks back out of the water, but this time farther than before. He chirps once more, but in a different rhythm and pattern. Is he talking to you?
“Hi...” You say, embarrassed by the fact you're continuously talking to him in a language he doesn't understand but it's not like you know his language either. Surprisingly though, he mumbles:
“H-hiye.” It's not perfect and there's an emphasis on vowels that aren't there, but it's unmistakably a greeting. His voice is a deep timbre and it rumbles much more than the chirps he let out earlier. It's obvious that speaking the way humans do is difficult for him but you watch in awe as he tries to form another word. “H-hurt?”
It's a question that breaks your heart, he thinks you're going to hurt him.
“No, no I'm not going to hurt you.” You reassure as you inch closer to him. He chirps once more but this time it's an embarrassed squeak and he back up slightly, but eventually chooses to slink closer to you.
You tell him your name, and it takes a few tries before he understands but soon enough he's saying his version of it. It's sort of lilted and garbled but it's your name. You smile at him and ask for his name, pointing a gentle finger at his chest as you ask.
He responds with a series of chirps that sound vaguely like a name.
“Nathan?” You ask to clarify, it sounded closer to Nuh’tan but you aren't sure how to say it. He seems to like your version of his name though, as his low purr-like rumbles start again. He smiles at you and it's hard not to recoil in fear as the sight of his maw filled with row after row of black pointed teeth comes into sight. But you manage it and smile warily.
The day draws closer to night as you converse with the strange fishman, and learn all the words he knows. Which are: hi, hurt, no, yes, fish, and boat. He mimicked the people on the beach to show you how he learned the words, often from hearing shouts and commands from the humans on land. Eventually, you have to regretfully tell him that you have to leave. He is incredibly opposed to this but you promise to come back tomorrow, which calms him somewhat.
You visit him for the rest of your vacation, learning that he doesn't have any fish friends or family, and that he often goes hungry because of the small fish population in the area. You start to bring him food, and watch as he tears into the assortment of fish you bring him with his black fangs.
It doesn't take long before you're devising a plan on how to sneak him onto the plane so you can take him home with you.
Your ceiling was adorned with a mural of what the water's surface looked like from below. On the morning that you and Leith were married, he had sent in some of the best artists from across the world to your palace to paint it.
"It will be hard for you to travel to my home," the merman had said, his soft eyes fixed on you with an intensity that, at the time, you didn't understand. "So I wanted you to see what I see when I wake up there. That way, when we sleep apart, we will still wake up to the same sight."
Back then, you had dismissed it as nothing more than a way for him to flaunt his wealth. Now, after hearing his ultimatum, you thought of that mural again. How you had dismissed it. Why had you? He had always been earnest with you. Even if he didn't love you, he at least cared. That was far from the worst thing an arranged husband could do.
It had been two days since Leith had told you to give his voice back or that he would leave. That he would keep your secret but that he would leave. Be gone. That you wouldn't get to see him every day. It would solve your problem with Eidhneán. He would never know that you lied. That when you took the Spirit of the Sea back, it wasn't the first time you had picked Leith over him. After tomorrow, if you said nothing, then Leith would leave. You would stay married on paper. It would be everything that you wanted.
Yet, the idea of that made your chest ache. Could you really live your life only seeing him two or three times a year? The rumors that Eidhneán was the "real King" or "real consort" would only spread. It would hurt Leith's reputation in your Kingdom, and likely would cause some unrest with the Elven Kingdom as he would never be your official consort.
Just after the morning of the third day, you slipped from your chambers to his. At the center of his marble walled room was a large, clear pool. Leith was sleeping at the bottom of it, his tail curled up around his torso in a way that reminded you of a serpent curling in on itself. His fins flicking slightly in his sleep.
On the golden table by his pool sat the sea grape wine that he kept just for you. He had infused it with magic so whenever you drank it, you would be able to breathe under water. You had only used it a few times because the salty taste was for a taste you had not acquired, but you wanted to talk to him.
Pouring the cup, and downing it so you could choke down the taste, you kept your eyes fixed on where the merman was curled up on the seaweed mattress. It took a few moments for the tingling in your chest that indicated the magic was working to start. You didn't understand at all how it worked, but that didn't matter. It worked, and you couldn't wait another minute to speak to Leith.
Stripping off your clothes, you changed into the merfolk garb that was always laid out on the table as well. A seal skin top and skirt that wouldn't get heavy in the water. As you tugged it on, you glanced at Leith again. He was still sleeping.
You walked into the pool, careful as you sank into it. Cold water washed over you, making you tremble, before you fully submerged. You don't know why it always seemed worse before you submerged, but at least it didn't feel freezing once you were.
While you swam down, the salt water washed over you, filling your chest with its stinging coldness until you breathed it out. How did the potion keep you from drowning? It didn't matter. You weren't going to let yourself be distracted.
When you reached Leith's bed, you pulled yourself onto it. He stirred, blinking his blue eyes blearily. A small smile tugging at his lips.
"Good morning, Wife," he muttered in that wrong, metallic voice. "You came to greet me for a change. How pleasant."
"I don't want you to go back to your Kingdom," you said, looking down at him from where you were propped up.
He raised an eyebrow curiously. "So, you'll give me my real voice back, then?"

On a typical morning, the marble thrown rom smelled like salt water and blood. That warm, comforting scent of the sea mixed with the metallic tang of blood as you carefully stole scales off of your obedient husband.
Today was different.
Ever since you sealed Leith’s voice, he had been avoiding you. Rarely did he even come to the surface anymore. Choosing to spend more and more time underwater in the stream that cut through the halls. Or out in the garden where it pooled. There had even been a few times guards had informed you that the MerKing had gone back to the sea for the day to “handle affairs”. He had never done that without telling you himself before.
Guilt churned your stomach in a way that you hadn’t expected. Leith was your husband, but it wasn’t as though you cared for him. This was an arranged marriage. An agreement to bring peace between two countries that could have possibly wiped each other out if a war started.
Starvation for the merfolk. Drowning for the humans.
Eidhneán was the one you loved. You had to focus on fixing things with him before worrying about the feelings of your on paper husband. Right?
“Where is the fish? Pouting because you invited me for dinner?” the elf laughed. A sound that you used to love, but was starting to become more and more like nils on a chalk board.
“He’s not a fish,” you muttered quietly. Why would he go so far out of his way to insult Leith? He had never done anything to him.
“He has fins and lives in the water. You are splitting hairs, my Queen,” he teased, knowing your title usually made you flush and insist he didn’t need to. When you didn’t, his smile felt. There was a glint of… something in his eyes. “Y/N?”
“Sorry, I’m sorry, my love. I’m just a little worried. Leith doesn’t usually stay away this long,” you said, shaking your head, as if that could shake off the worry that had begun to climb up your spine.
“You’re really thinking of him when you’re with me?” he scoffed, setting down the wine glass he had been holding.
Your eyes snapped up to his. Dark green. Like the center of an ancient forest. Where the little light that manages to break the canopy dabbles the grass below in golden freckles.
“He is still a member of the royal family, and it’s not as though I loathe him,” you responded, wondering why you felt such a defensiveness.
A sneer touched his lips, making your stomach churn. “Hardly. His people are dying. He’s just a drain on your resources.”
“My resources? He gave my family enough gold to buy our previous land holdings ten times over,” you argued, confusion making your brows furrow.
“And now you can’t fish! You have to spend so much of that money on cattle and hogs when there are perfectly good fish just outside this castle. A plentiful amount,” Eidhneán argued. His long, elegant ears flicked back like a cat’s.
“That was the agreement,” you said, still looking at him with mounting confusion.
“It was a poor agreement and your parents are fools for agreeing!”
Silence snapped between he two of you. His pale face flushing slightly as he sat down. Picking up his wine glass and gulping down the rest of the rich liquid.
“I don’t recall ever asking for your opinion,” you finally said in a tone you had never used with him. A regal tone you tended to save for diplomatic meetings.
“What?” Eidhneán asked with a small exhale of disbelief.
“My parents and I agonized over this decision. I don’t recall you ever once being asked to weigh in,” you said, setting your jaw. Why was he being like this? Where was the sweet elf boy you had fallen in love with as a child?
“My Queen, your Husband wishes to see you,” a servant came to whisper in your ear.
Normally you would have waved it off. Telling him that Leith could wait. However, there was a knot in your stomach that clenched tighter each time you looked at Eidhneán, and in that moment, all you wanted was to be as far away from him as possible.
“Alright, tell him I’ll be there shortly,” you said as you dabbed the corners of your mouth with the pressed cloth you had folded into your lap.
“Wait, what? Y/N, we’re eating,” the elf argued as you stood up.
“You’re more than welcome to stay and finish your meal. I have other matters to attend to,” you said before turning to follow the servant to where Leith was waiting.
Moonlight streamed into the garden, illuminating the pool that the silver scaled and haired merman was laying in. His head rested on his arms, which were folded on the stone lining of the pond. Light eyes tracking your every moment. Lit up with surprise that you’re actually there.
“Hello,” you said softly as you came to a stop in front of him, gazing down at his water clad form.
For a moment, he seemed struck dumb, but then he began to speak in that borrowed voice you hated. Nothing like his own. A crude spell made by some poor merfolk to try to mimic his original voice so none would be the wiser about their King’s new disability.
“You actually came when I asked.”
“Yes,” you said, your throat bobbing as you swallowed.
“Was… was he not here?” the words were rough. Like dragging your hand across the sand.
“He was. We were eating dinner,” you said before crouching, bringing yourself more to his eye level. “What did you need?”
“You left him, during a meal, just because I called on you?” Leith asked, his light lie eyes wide as saucers. Little dagger teeth poking into view as his mouth remained slightly agape.
Before you could answer, he let out a shrill. You hardly heard him create sounds of joy, but he even chirped. The sound was enough to draw a laugh from you.
“Why are you acting like that? You called on me, and I came,” you said, your voice still full of mirth even after the laughter faded.
“Exactly. You came because I called,” he said as his lips stretched across his cheeks.
“So?”
“This is the first time you’ve ever picked me over him,” he said. His eyes looking at you like you just placed the world in the center of his scaled palm.

Salt and sand and sweat. That is what Leith smelled like.
He was laying on stone floor by his fountain, with the tips of his fins hardly dipped into the water. Silver hair was splayed across the stone in a fan. A halo of hair made holy by the moonlight bathing him. Catching the droplets and making them shimmer like diamonds.
With his eyes closed, he had no idea of the way you were watching him with the awestruck fascination you typically reserved for your lover.
You don't know what it was about the last few weeks, but something in your heart had changed. For the first time in your marriage, you felt as though you were seeing Leith. Really seeing him. Had he always been like this? Beautiful. Kind. Forgiving. Loyal.
Loyal.
That made your heart jump into your throat. Never had you seen Leith even look at another being, but there you were with an affair so well known that even servants joked about Eidhneán being the true King. How could Leith dedicate himself to someone who had treated him so shallowly? You had treated him like an accessory. Something to be brought around and flaunted, showing your wealth and station, before being put away and forgotten until it was useful again.
After what could have been only a few minutes, or an eternity, you walked over to Leith. Sitting beside him on the stone. Your dress flared as you tucked your feet under yourself.
"You're up late, Wife," Leith said softly, his eyes not opening, but he knew it was you. He always knew when it was you.
"I couldn't sleep," you admitted, worrying your lower lip between your teeth.
Those barely blue eyes blinked open, fixing on you once properly opened. His fingers carded through his hair as he sat up, messing the silver strands. There was something about the way he looked at you, even now, that made your stomach flip. Maybe... maybe there could be more to this marriage than an arrangement. Maybe.
"Are you sick?" he asked, his head tilted as he looked at you.
"No," you said, shaking your head slightly. "I just feel... bad."
"Why?" he asked, his brows furrowed as he held your gaze.
Your eyes dropped. Your face flushing slightly. "I fear that I have been unfair to you."
"You fear that, do you?" he asked with a slight grin, rolling on his side and propping himself up with one arm. Leaning his head into his palm, elbow pressed to the stone.
"Don't tease me," you huffed, pursing your lips.
"I'm sorry, I don't mean to. I'm happy you think of me now," were his words, but there was still mirth in his voice.
That wrong, metallic voice. Your stomach sank. Reminded of your betrayal every time you heard it. How you had stolen his voice, hid it away, so your lover wouldn't know that you lied about why you couldn't give it to him. You realized that that was the first time you ever picked Leith, though you did ultimately still choose selfishness. If you had Leith's voice, at least you could give it back to him, and it wouldn't be used for anything. If Eidhneán had his voice, even you had no idea what he might have used it for.
"Why haven't you asked me?" the words come out on a whispered breeze. Almost like the wind sensed how you were almost too scared to say them, so it was almost too scared to carry it.
"Asked you what?" the merman asked, his earfins flicking back as he peered at you.
"Why I took your voice," your voice trembled as you forced the words out.
Any amusement left in his eyes died. Your stomach dropped as he pushed himself to be sitting up, facing away from you. "Because I already know the answer."
Your heart leapt for a moment. "You do?"
Leith snorted. The air being forced out his nose in a frustrated tone. "For him, right?" he refused to say Eidhneán's name even then. "He was jealous of my song, or worried I would use it to seduce you. That I would rally your people against him and have him cast from the lands. Something like that, so you sealed it away to please him."
Of course that's what he thought. You had always put that cruel elf above the gentle merman. Cruel. When had Eidhneán become cruel? You remembered the young boy that would sing to the flowers so they would bend themselves into a crown for you. Who would urge trees to bend closer to give you shade. Who, when you would fall and hurt yourself, would scoop you up in his arms, insisting he carry you to a physician for even the most minor injury. When had he been replaced by a man that wanted to steal another man's power all for himself, and being willing to risk crippling him for life?
"No," you whispered, your tongue darting out to wet your lips. "Leith, I swear. He didn't ask me that, and I didn't do it because he was jealous of you."
"Then why?" he demanded. HIs normally soft eyes sharp. Filled with a pain you had never let yourself see before.
Letting out a shuddering breath, you decided to tell the truth. "Because he wanted to take it for himself."

I know you’re doing mermaid only for MerMay so I hope you can do this one before my other AI stuff.
I saw an AI video where the FL has a merman husband but she takes his scales and sealed his voice to give gifts to an ungrateful elf she’s actually in love with. The merman husband is in love with her desperately and loyal because he hopes she’ll realize he loves her and it wasn’t just for an arranged marriage.
please I’d love you to do even a one part of this but would looooveee a multiparter
I wrote like half of this then my laptop died but I hadn’t saved it. RIP. Anyway, I’ve gotten your other asks and love them. AI Redo Anon, perhaps?
Leith loved you with everything he had, despite the situation of your arrangement. His underwater Kingdom was on the brink of collapse from the massive overfishing done by your human Kingdom, but were rich with jewels and pearls. Even gold from ship wrecks. A marriage between your two nations would give your struggling Kingdom wealth, and his collapsing Kingdom a change to regrow.
So, the contract was signed. Gold, pearls, jewels to buy land and cattle to stop the over fishing. That was why when you met Leith, you convinced yourself he would never love you, so you would never love him. This was business. Nothing more.
That’s why when Eidhneán, your childhood love, an elf from the high mountains, reappeared, you let yourself fall for him again. What would Leith care? You were his wife in name only.
“Wife, please. Careful,” Leith winced as you carefully extracted another scale from his tail, dropping it in the glass jar you kept by your side.
“Don’t be dramatic. These fall off anyway. I’m just helping the process,” you muttered, peeling off another one. It couldn’t hurt, you told yourself. Why would he let you hurt him?
His eyes were barely blue they were so light, boring into your eyes. After a moment, he looked down, his throat bobbing. Neither of you spoke another word until his silver scale came off a visceral green as bleeding started.
“I’ll stop,” you said, dropping the last scale in. “Rest.”
“Will you come home after seeing him?” Leith asked, his voice tinged with desperate hope.
You ignored the tone. Convinced yourself you misunderstood it. He was a merman. His voice lied all the time.
“Why do you care? We don’t even sleep together.”
Leith flinched, his finned ears flicking back. “Please… just promise me you’ll come home instead of spending the night with him.”
Even you couldn’t ignore the desperation, but you told yourself it was because of how it would look. He didn’t want to be embarrassed. “Alright. I’ll just drop this off and come home.”
Eidhneán smirked when he saw you, having been waiting in your throne room. “Y/N. Look at you. An even bigger gift for me today, hm?”
You flushed, smiling widely as you held the jar full of scales out. “Yes. These are fresh scales so they should make sure the seas are calm for you!”
His dark green eyes fill with satisfaction as you hand him the jar. His long, slender fingers curling around it. That smirk tugs at his lips again. “You spoil me. Even at the cost of your husband.”
“Anything for you,” you beam at him, oblivious to his cruel expression.
“I can see that,” he chuckled, tucking the jar away into his pack. “You know, I heard an interesting story.”
“What?” you asked eagerly, tilting forward on your toes.
“That the merfolk sovereign’s voice can grant total control of the sea,” he said, his eyes flickering. For a moment, you see that cruelty before it’s hidden under his charming facade. “Do you think you can get that for me? Then I’ll always be safe when I sail.”
“You want… Leith’s voice?” your brows furrowed, your hands twisting the fabric of your skirt. A merfolk’s voice was nearly their existence. What would happen to Leith if you took it?
“Yes. For safety, my love,” Eidhneán smiled, cupping your cheek which made your knees go weak. “Please.”
Swallowing nervously, you hesitated. Leith wasn’t unkind. Could you do that to him? But if you didn’t, would Eidhneán leave? You don’t know why, but the words tumble out, “Leith lost his voice so I can’t.”
The elf raised an eyebrow, his hand falling from your face. “Lost it?”
You nodded frantically. “Y-yes! I think because he’s been gone from the sea for too long. When we visit, I’ll see if it returns so I can give it to you.”
Eidhneán frowned, his long ears flicking back in irritation. “Fine, but you better not be lying to me.”
You shook your head, and the elf believed you. After all, you were obsessed with him. Why would you lie to protect a male you barely looked at? Guilt weighed on your heart as you came back home, to where Leith was waiting in the stream you had had built into the throne room. A smile full of sharp teeth greeted you.
“Y/N! You really came home,” he chirped happily, swimming closer to you. Gods, what you were about to do was going to be such a betrayal.
“Leith, do you trust me?” you asked softly as you crouched beside him.
“Yes,” he said without thinking, light eyes fixed on you.
A lump filled your throat as you nodded. Before he could react, your fingers curled around his throat, speaking rapidly. A curse. To seal his voice. You couldn’t give it to Eidhneán, but you couldn’t let your beloved know you lied to him, either.
Leith looked at you with shock, betrayal, then a quiet, pitiful acceptance. His ear fins drooping as you let go of his throat. Neither of you moved until he dove back under the water.

I don’t usually do this but I am ILL y’all. Which one do y’all like better for Leith’s huggable merch?? (I’m gonna announce what it is and the size ((y’all gon flip)) by month’s end)
