Had a lot of fun and learned a lot from this one that was recently delivered. Didn’t seal it properly and eventually cracked/ checked pretty bad, so gave a shot at carving/chiseling the natural cracks and edges, then an epoxy fill on cracks/voids. Scape CXXIV, Part 6. Refining the forms and transitions with the Merlin 2, and final sanding before staining. Pre stain I sand up to 400 grit, but it also depends on the level of finish with each section of the relief. Feel the flow. Tactile flow has been defined as the flow associated with the displacement of iso-stress curves on the surface of the contacting fingertips. CXXIV is a landscape depicting erosion and the destructive qualities found in nature. In creating the work, it’s important that all transitions flow together and are interconnected. The piece need to work visually but, tactile perception is also an important component in the process.
