The evolution of penny and merc, from when i first created them on my drawing tablet and made their first concepts at the start of april, to their references from may, to their most recent drawing togethah

Fun fact, Penny's suit is supposed to be based off of the ones from the Regency Era

Mercs suit is based off of one by the character Louie from the ducktales reboot as i took lots of inspo from the character for him (refs under the cut)

The taller one is Penninah "Penny" Wilford Copperbottom while the shorter one is Mercutio "Merc" Copperbottom

Penny was born the year after Reginald became chief. Ever since she was little she's been an awkward but well meaning goober. She takes after Reg the most with her sophisticated sense of style and her general lanky loser build. When she was younger she was trained to be the next chief, but it didn't come to be once Svenja showed more potential.

She's fine with it though. Penny was always scared of the idea of being leader. And generally scared of a lot of things (not heights though. She loved being in the Airship for this reason). She works in finances and is having the time of her life.

Merc's a lot more different than his big sister. Being born the year the Toppats launched the rocket (taking place after Toppat King), he's had a pretty good life. Despite being the son of the former chief and being in the clan at its most powerful, he strives for something. Something that he can claim as his own. Something outside of the Toppat Clan.

Ever since he was a kid he was always a smug little shit. Being a lot more spoiled than Penny was at her age, he's used to getting away with trouble. He often messes around with people for this exact reason. What's worse is that this kid is also Really smart and cunning so he's just an overall menace (Reginald and RHM are simultaneously proud and concerned for him).

The two are really close, even if they bicker a lot. They're ride or die for each otherand they'll complain the whole way through.
