1. “Don’t touch them”
Rough brick scraped Mac’s cheek as the masked guard forcibly shoved him against the wall. His arm twisted behind him, he was unable to brace himself or slow down.
Heavy boots clomped into the cell and toward his teammates.
“Don’t touch them,” Mac threatened. Copper blossomed into his mouth as the jagged wall caught his lip.
The guard slammed him into the bricks harder and held him. With an oof, Mac’s lungs deflated.
Using what little air he had, he repeated, “Don’t touch them.”
Forced to look toward the iron bars, he couldn’t see them. But he heard it all; Bozer fighting, Riley resisting, and Jack being dragged from the room.
