You know what would be fun ? Making Orion Pax's backstory a combination of some of his back stories so like he's an archivist who primarily deals with transportation of records & sensitive documents for the police, he'll deliver stuff from active investigations scenes,retrieve stuff from the archives, or even make contact with information brokers, & bring it to the analysis department.
Sometimes he's required to move evidence & artifacts from different institutions too, need a scholar who specialises in weapons from x region or y time period to analyse a murder weapon? Orion will deliver it to the correct lab.
Good opportunity to have him know Prowl & a couple other bots that way,
Anyway queue him getting a dangerous long haul job needing to move sensitive data, maybe to do with some big corruption case idk, but he's got a big target on him so he gets assigned a bodyguard
Enter Megatron, can't decide which alt would be best but i lean towards gun as it would be easy to conceal him in Orion's cab giving them a surprise advantage in a fight & it would also mean they have to walk if some sniper gets Orion's tire as Megatron wouldn't be able to give Orion a lift
It's a classic bodyguard / stuck together on a roadtrip AU basically
Maybe this isn't even the first time they've worked together but it's definitely the longest they have, they bond over the experience of effectively being on the run, they let off some steam with one another 😏
They deliver the documents successfully everything goes to trial & they realise that Orion is carrying 🥺 little Roller, the bitty has to stay with Orion as a professional bodyguard can't really take care of a bitty at work but Orion can just opt for less risky jobs for a while
Some time later maybe a few months / years down the line they have to work together again they're told it's transporting those same documents to the archives for cataloguing, the job can't be transferred to anyone else
Something feels off to Orion, it's like there's a humming coming from his cargo hold, over the course of the journey dodging whoever is after the still incriminating 'documents' Orion becomes convinced that they're being made to traffic someone in status lock. No matter how much Megatron insists that he can't feel the EM field that Pax can feel, hasn't heard the soft voices at the edge of his consciousness during recharge, Orion remains convinced. After a particularly close call, when Roller & Orion nearly get seriously injured Megatron agrees to crack open containers & check what's inside. Server racks filled with data as expected, apart from one, the source of the humming, it looks like a spark chamber with 2 elegant curved handles framing it, the Matrix.
A relic thought to have been stolen by the Quintessons when the last of their occupying forces were expelled from Cybertron
