There are a lot of different tools,software and services that Computer Repair Techs use when they are troubleshooting a computer. One of the Go-To diagnostic tools for testing #RAM is #memtest86 and it's been that way for the last 29 years. This program runs a series of tests on the computer ram and writes data to each sector over and over again trying to cause a "fault" which would indicate a bad sector in turn meaning the ram is not reliable if it gets too many of these bad sectors but even one can cause trouble. So when a computer randomly freezes up or shuts down unexpectedly or gives the #BSOD bad ram could be the problem. After running the test for a sufficient amount of time which could mean 12+ hours with no errors you can be pretty confident the RAM is not the issue.
