A customer asked me to make a make a memory pillow out of her Dad’s silk ties, so I did. She gave me an approximate size of pillow she wanted, and I think is only about three inches longer, but I did get all the ties on the top of the pillow so I could put a navy cuddletex back on it.
She said that because it’s silk and a decorative pillow, she would rather not have it be removable, so I sewed the batting loose inside.
The ties are quite stiff because I didn’t take them apart to remove the interfacing, so I didn’t need to use quilt batting under them, just a thin layer of muslim to stabilise the bias cut of them.
I think it turned out quite nice.
