Теперь немного про Сансет, роль Хранительницы и то, как она ее получила.

Сансет важна в этой AU не потому, что она “особенная ради особенности” или просто “female Sans с красивыми закатными волосами”. Она — последняя Хранительница Памяти Рода.

Как и говорилось в предыдущем посте, до войны скелеты были отдельным культурным слоем среди монстров, женщины-скелеты имеют магические волосы, созданные магией души, и эти волосы могут хранить память рода (имена, голоса, песни, старые ритуалы и т.д.).

После войны почти все скелеты погибли. Остались только Гастер, десятилетняя Сансет и совсем маленький Папирус. Про это вы уже слышали. Но вы еще не знаете о том, что было дальше. Уже позже, в Подземелье, было принято решение назначить Сансет новой Хранительницей. Азгор не мог провести настоящую скелетскую инициацию, потому что это не его культура и не его обряд. Но он всё равно спросил Сансет, согласна ли она принять эту ношу. Ториэль была рядом и почти умоляла его не делать этого, потому что Сансет ребёнок. Но Азгор дождался ответа самой Сансет.

Так она стала Хранительницей.

И в этом для меня главный конфликт: Сансет все хотят защитить, потому что она последняя живая нить прошлого. Но из-за этого её легко начать воспринимать не как личность, а как реликвию, архив, символ надежды. А она всё ещё живая. Она может лениться, злиться, шутить, не хотеть быть “последней надеждой рода” и просто иметь право на собственную жизнь.

И, возможно, сила Хранительницы не только в хранении памяти. Возможно, память в этой AU — это связь народа с миром. И если монстры хотят однажды разрушить Барьер, им нужно не только пробить магическую стену. Им нужно доказать самой реальности, что их история не закончилась.

Главный вопрос AU пока такой: можно ли спасти народ, не превращая последнюю носительницу его памяти в инструмент спасения?

Now, a little bit about Sunset, the role of the Keeper, and how she got it.

Sunset is important in this AU not because she is “special for the sake of being special” or just “female Sans with pretty sunset-colored hair.” She is the last Keeper of Her Family’s Memory.

As I mentioned in the previous post, before the war, skeleton monsters were a separate cultural group among monsters. Female skeletons have magical hair, created by soul magic, and this hair can hold the memories of their family: names, voices, songs, old rituals, and so on.

After the war, almost all skeleton monsters were gone. Only Gaster, ten-year-old Sunset, and very little Papyrus were left.

You already know that part.

But you don’t know what happened next.

Later, already in the Underground, the decision was made to make Sunset the new Keeper. Asgore could not perform a real skeleton initiation, because it was not his culture and not his ritual. But he still asked Sunset if she was willing to accept that burden. Toriel was there and almost begged him not to do it, because Sunset was only a child. But Asgore waited for Sunset’s own answer.

That is how she became the Keeper.

And this is the main conflict for me: everyone wants to protect Sunset, because she is the last living thread to the past. But because of that, it is very easy to stop seeing her as a person and start seeing her as a relic, an archive, a symbol of hope. But she is still alive. She can be lazy, angry, sarcastic, tired of being “the last hope of her family,” and she still deserves her own life.

And maybe the Keeper’s power is not only about preserving memory. Maybe memory in this AU is a connection between a people and the world itself. And if monsters want to break the Barrier one day, they may need more than just breaking through a magical wall. They may need to prove to reality itself that their story is not over.

В этой AU скелеты были не просто парой случайных монстров на всё Подземелье, а целым культурным слоем: со своими традициями, магией, родовыми линиями и Хранительницами. У женщин-скелетов есть магические волосы, и у Хранительниц эти волосы могут хранить память рода: имена, голоса, песни, старые ритуалы и всё то, что нельзя просто записать в книгу.

После войны с людьми почти все скелеты погибли.

Остались только Гастер, десятилетняя Сансет и совсем маленький Папирус.

И Сансет стала последней, кто мог принять память своего исчезнувшего народа.

Теперь для монстров она не просто девочка-скелет с красивыми волосами цвета заката. Она живая нить прошлого. Последний архив. Реликвия, которая ходит, шутит, ленится, злится и очень хочет, чтобы её иногда воспринимали не как святыню, которую надо защищать любой ценой, а как живую личность.

У неё закатные цвета вместо классического синего, светящийся левый глаз, чуть более столичный стиль одежды и вайб “я последняя Хранительница, но если вы сейчас опять начнёте делать из меня символ надежды, я лягу на пол и притворюсь ковром”.

Визуал — AI-generated concept/reference art. Я сама рисовать не умею, но мне нужна картинка, чтобы показать, как примерно выглядит персонажка и на что я опираюсь в дизайне. Это именно визуальный референс для AU, не попытка выдать себя за художника.

Memory Keeper AU — Sunset

So, meet Sunset.

Yeah, almost every Undertale AU starts with its own version of Sans, so here is mine, haha. But she is not just “Sans, but female.” Sunset is her own character, and she is the center of this AU.

In Memory Keeper AU, Sunset is Gaster’s daughter, Papyrus’s older sister, and the last Keeper of Her Family’s Memory.

In this AU, skeleton monsters were not just two random monsters in the whole Underground. Before the war with humans, they were a whole cultural group of their own, with traditions, family lines, rituals, and memory-based magic.

Female skeletons in this AU have magical hair. Not human hair, but a manifestation of soul magic. For Memory Keepers, this hair can hold the memories of their family and people: names, voices, songs, old rituals, and all the things that cannot simply be written down in a book and left on a shelf.

After the war, almost all skeleton monsters were gone.

Only Gaster, ten-year-old Sunset, and very little Papyrus were left.

And Sunset became the last one who could carry the memory of her nearly lost people.

So to the monsters around her, she is not just a skeleton girl with pretty sunset-colored hair. She is a living thread to the past. The last archive. A relic that walks, talks, jokes, gets lazy, gets angry, and really wishes people would sometimes see her as a person instead of something sacred that must be protected at all costs.

She has sunset colors instead of classic blue, a glowing left eye, and a more capital-city style of clothing. Not exactly royal, but definitely not Snowdin slippers energy either. More like: “I am the last Memory Keeper, but if you all start treating me like a symbol of hope again, I will lie down on the floor and pretend to be a rug.”
