there is nothing wrong with romanticizing shifting.
Yes, you read that right. There is absolutely nothing wrong with romanticizing shifting, your process, your dr, or anything else related to the topic. “'B-b-but Mel, if you romanticize shifting, then it takes you further away from achieving it.” Incorrect. Don’t confuse “idealizing” with “romanticizing.”
Many in this community are so against this idea, when in reality there is nothing wrong with it. By definition, let's differentiate these terms to clarify things better. ― Idealize: "to elevate things above reality through intelligence or fantasy, exaggerating their virtues and minimizing their flaws, seeking an unrealistic perfect model." ― Romanticize: "to embellish, or give something a more attractive and poetic character than it actually has, transforming the everyday or even the negative into something desirable or special."
In essence, the difference is that if you fall into the first group, you attribute perfection to shifting—basically, putting it on a pedestal, making it unattainable or something superior to YOU. On the other hand, if you fall into the second group, you are simply giving it a poetic character to embellish it. The difference may seem ephemeral at first, but the line is so thin that it sometimes becomes blurry—yes, putting your reality on a pedestal is bad (1st group), but romanticizing it is not bad at all.
“But life won't be all sunshine and rainbows in your DR, it's just a common reality like any other.”―that's the problem, who said it can't be? Why should you have to put up with bad things in a reality that YOU own, where you are the leader, just like in this one? It makes me so angry to see this false notion that i can't perfect my reality because, oh! i have to be/make it realistic. FUCK REALISM; WHY EVEN LINK IT TO AN EXPERIENCE THAT GOES BEYOND THAT TERM?
If I don't want to have a bad or boring experience in my reality, THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT—why are we so used to setting up for negativity? didn't shifting teach you to overcome what you have already learned socially? Well, apply it to this too. Do you want to write things that are totally “beyond anything possible” just to be happy? Fuck it, just go with it if you want; it’s YOUR reality.
Get that fucking “realism” computer chip out of your damn head once and for all.
